This Jackie Robinson analogy is so tortured people are writing letters to Amnesty International as we speak. The only similarity is that two active sports people were the first to do something.

Jackie Robinson was playing baseball in the 1940s and 1950s when the majority of people's attitudes towards black people weren't exactly enlightened. It's 2013! There are gay Congressmen, gay T.V. shows, gay T.V. channels, gay pride parades, etc. Are there still people that don't like gay people? Yes. Will Collins (if he ever plays in the NBA again) face scorn from other players and fans? Yes. But to analogize Jackie Robinson with Jason Collins as closely as Dan was doing today? Dumb.

I agree 100%.

Caught the last hour of the show on podcast. Embarrassing. When he was browbeating that one caller for being a "worse" bigot because he was black and thus should have "known better" was uncomfortable as best and offensive at worst. I actually think he believes he's doing good for the gay community by getting on the air yelling at callers. Well done Dan, you're really speaking truth to power by telling some out of work drunk from Beverly he's an idiot.

Renee Richards wasn't gay though. Richard Raskind was transgendered. If he had also been a better tennis player, it would have been a bigger deal.

You know, I don't give a shit what two adults do in the privacy of their bedroom- or even in a parked car for that matter. Hell, in light of the way American society has evolved, I'm even willing to lower the age at which one becomes an adult, and I got called a pedophile for my trouble. And that is related to dan bernstein's= and mine and I think most people's= views on sex. The mere idea that one could actually abstain from sex is seen as preposterous. "THAT'S THE WAY THEY ARE!" Yeah, so what? Christians do not believe they should act on their desires or proclivities. I'm not comparing homosexuals to murderers, but the fact is, some murderers ARE JUST THAT WAY, too. I don't think "being" a certain way is a justification for any behavior.

Wow.

Yikes, that's actually really offensive.

Looks like Bernsie's wife or someone got to him and said slow it the fuck down and think.

Maybe Laurence got a hold of both dan and Briggs and straightened them out.

If so, he wouldn't have tweeted the above statement. He's trying to compliment Christians but only reveals his stupidity. There's very little difference between what he said and for example saying, "Today I learned not all African-Americans are thug criminals as there are many respectable contributing members of society."

Absolutely

There can be no denying Dan is bigoted. That is an open admittance of not only bias against Christians but HATE for them.

Terrible.

Didn't listen to a minute of the show and only read this page.

Is this the first time any of you have listened to Dan's feelings on Christianity?

Example # 18,439,042 of me agreeing with Bernstein in principle while simultaneously hating him.

In my experience, the number of people in society who think being gay is wrong way overstated here. Even when you include religious people, the vast majority of people I have met do not care if people are gay or not. Maybe there are some statistics out there that prove me wrong, but I find it hard to believe.

Bernstein LOVES when stories like this cross paths with sports because it gives him an excuse to play Mr. Journalist. And what is he crying about now? He reminds me of a very smart teenager who sort of understands the world and some of the issues but doesn't have the emotional intelligence to realize what he looks like to other people.

Of course not. He's always held Christians in contempt.

I don't see how a Jewish guy can be so disgusted at the teachings of Christianity.

He touched on that yesterday too. He dislikes Orthodox Jews. Apparently he doesn't mind Reform Jews who are really just secularists like most Catholics I know. I think he hates anyone who actually believes in G_d and follows the rules as laid out in ancient texts. Except Muslims. He never says shit about them.

He did talk about Islam and Sharia yesterday.

Dan hates organized religion. There's nothing organized about Judaism.

Yeah, he brushed past that and the Orthodox Jews and got right back to firing on the bigoted Christians.

Yep.

He mentioned Orthodox Jews and Islam almost as an afterthought.

Amongst the hours of screaming about christians he snuck in a "and some of the eccentric sharia law stuff"

I truly LOL'd at that

I don't expect him to know the current different stances of christian groups but there are several whose official stance is that it is not sinful. He could drive the streets near his home to find christian churches with identifiable rainbow flags on their signs at the front.

He was Tweeting out lists of churches for people to change to last night.

I get why he might put on the show yesterday as he feels that is some type of entertainment. I don't understand why he bothers on his own time at night on Twitter listening to a bunch of idiots and responding to them.

Yeah, that kind of makes it difficult to hide behind the concept that "we're just a couple of idiots doing a sports radio show and it doesn't matter, it's just entertainment for five hours each day."

It hasn't been that way for at least four years now.

That sounds like an unhealthy way for a single person to live their life, let alone someone with a spouse and family.

I was bothered by them calling what Lance Briggs did hate. It was silly and stupid but hardly hate.

Same with what Mike Wallace said. Stupid but not hate. He doesn't understand why some men like sex with men. Doesn't mean that he hates them. I'm sure there's some sex stuff either gay or straight people do that some people find gross.

A gay guy I'm good friends with said he finds heterosexual sex kind of gross.
