I agree. I'm a believer and I also sin. My sin is no less sinful than that of a gay person.

Atta way to stand up for your sin!!!

No. That's called being self-aware that I'm an imperfect human being. For me to pretend to be anything other than that would be severely hypocritical. I understand that's a trait with which you're unequipped. Too bad for that.

It was just a line. Lighten up Francis....

As for Broussard-he has done nothing to discriminate against anyone who is gay. He has never been intolerant nor mean towards any homosexual. He just doesn't agree with their lifestyle because of his religious beliefs. To call him names because of a difference of opinion only....smacks of intolerance.

Just a bit of a jump there.

How so? Religion has historically been used to defend a lot of awful things. Hiding under the umbrella of religious freedom doesn't mean one's bigotry should be "tolerated."

Is that Bigotry?

Thinking its a sin? I guess it is, but I have a hard time criticizing people for what goes on in their heads.

Thinking it's a sin doesn't neccessarily = bigotry. I'd saymaking the statement that these people can't be in your club might be. How would he feel about a gay person attending his church service? And I have a news flash for him, btw.....they already are.

My post here has nothing to do with my personal thoughts on the matter so I want to get that out to avoid distraction.

This Broussard thing smacks of the entire political correctness movement in general. It happens in so many discussions about many thoughts that people have. If you have a thought/opinion that runs contrary to what the mainstream or at least what the "enlightened people" say should be mainstream you are painted into a corner and made to look as if you are a complete loon, mental case or bigot. Tolerance or intolerance is a key word in these changes over say last 15 years. Basically you cannot say anything counter. I find this especially odd that is was born of a generation in the late 60's that was so counter.

In this case the man is asked in his position what he thinks. He says what he thinks in some non defamatory way and doesn't really hurt anyone. Yet the loud voices begin to shout, the company scrambles to deflect and save (money really lets face it) face and the townsfolk come with the torches.

It really has gotten a bit Orwellian that nothing except the current accepted "speak" can be spoken outside of your home without repercussion. It is also sad.

I'd add our current practice of military worship to the "Orwellian" theory as well.

I don't think you are right in this scenario. He could have said he thinks homosexuality is a sin per his religious beliefs. Fine. But he went further. He said he doesn't consider anyone who has gay sex capable of being a Christian. That is ignorant and way out of line.

Gay couples are turned away from the Catholic Church regularly. Do you think a homosexual couple could get married in a Catholic Church? Why not?.....The church doesn't consider them to be a Christian couple, as they are living in sin in the eyes of the church.

The Catholic church won't let Baptists get married in their church either. They don't say Baptists are not Christians.

Yeah but as long as you are not really being threatening or discriminating don't people get to say that even if he is wrong? He said "he" doesn't consider... It might just be me but if I were in some class going through discrimination I would rather know what people really think and make my next move. People just saying what is expected would make it harder to navigate? That is as long as they are not truly threatening or doing some action that really affects my rights.

Just saying....if he grew up Catholic, this conclusion he has come up with about homosexuals not being capable of being Christian, would be understandable. If you knew the Church would not marry them, nor allow them as confirmed members because the Church considers them to be living in sin, it's reasonable. I'm not supporting the Catholic Church as much as trying to walk a few steps in Broussard's shoes before judging him. He hasn't done anything to discriminate against gays. He hasn't been intolerant of them. He just doesn't agree with their lifestyle. A little tolerance for a difference of opinion might be in order.

So it's okay to call someone you don't agree with names. But if that person calls a homosexual individual something derogatory, thats not okay? Double standard at work there. Who's to say that his viewpoint isn't the enlightened one, while yours is the backward one? If tolerance is the goal, it has to extend both directions.

I'm not jumping on the Chris Broussard is a monster trend. Quite frankly, I don't care about the whole situation.

The Church is being a pain in my own ass because I'm working on an annulment of my first marriage because my fiancee wants to get married in the Church (she grew up Catholic, I was raised Lutheran and consider myself a conscientious observer). The ways of the Catholic Church are so archaic, it's ridiculous. That said, I'd rather sit through 100 Catholic masses than ever set foot in a Protestant church again.
