Just saying....if he grew up Catholic, this conclusion he has come up with about homosexuals not being capable of being Christian, would be understandable. If you knew the Church would not marry them, nor allow them as confirmed members because the Church considers them to be living in sin, it's reasonable. I'm not supporting the Catholic Church as much as trying to walk a few steps in Broussard's shoes before judging him. He hasn't done anything to discriminate against gays. He hasn't been intolerant of them. He just doesn't agree with their lifestyle. A little tolerance for a difference of opinion might be in order.

I'm not jumping on the Chris Broussard is a monster trend. Quite frankly, I don't care about the whole situation.

The Church is being a pain in my own ass because I'm working on an annulment of my first marriage because my fiancee wants to get married in the Church (she grew up Catholic, I was raised Lutheran and consider myself a conscientious observer). The ways of the Catholic Church are so archaic, it's ridiculous. That said, I'd rather sit through 100 Catholic masses than ever set foot in a Protestant church again.

And I can't sit thru a Catholic mass, I have tried and the whole thing doesn't make sense to me. I would much rather go the Protestant service.

I'm not sure you are correct in the statements underlying your conclusion.

You can be gay and a fully baptised, practicing member of the Roman Catholic Church.

You cannot recieve the sacrament of marriage.

Because I'm not someone who is there for the religious purpose, I can sit back and observe. I think it drives Kimberly nuts that I don't really participate, but she gets it. I can follow along on the whole "stand up, sit down" thing. I've just been to enough Catholic services that I don't really feel singled out by not participating.

Every Protestant service I've ever been to, I've felt that people look down at me because I'm not rambling through the Lord's Prayer or singing along to the hymns.

Our personal experiences are different, but that's cool...Even if you are from Arkansas :D

That was my problem at the Catholic services, I never knew what to do. Then I had some old codger behind tell me to keep up.

As someone who disagrees with Broussard, I've found the responses to him to be mostly flailing and disappointing.

Social liberals need to get over the supposed obvious correctness of their positions and drill down on these morality questions. They discredit their positions (which, again, I mostly agree with).

It does not seem that bad and espn stood behind him so I guess he got his freedom.

He definitely shouldn't have been fired for this.

Can people really stop bringing up freedom of speech? I don't think anyone is arguing that Chris Broussard doesn't have the right to speak his mind.

I'm not speaking of this message board... just things I am reading on the internet.
