A higher % of Hockey fans seem to wear the home teams uniform than any other sport, why is that? I'd say Cubs fan wear a lot of Cubs stuff, but it's a lot of t-shirts and shit, but not as many jerseys. Seems like they're the most expensive too.

Jerseys by price from the league store:

NHL: $125-$160
NFL: $100-$300 (Not including discounted Johnny Knox jerseys)
MLB: $80-$210
NBA: $60-$300

I don't really have a thought on why this is but I wanted to say that authentic hockey jerseys can go up to $300 and they're the most comfortable jerseys I've ever worn.

1) They're freaking expensive. You have to get the most out of them!
2) They're amenable to fat people, and can be worn without looking too stupid, thanks to their having been worn in beloved John Hughes movies.
3) NHL fandom places a greater premium on loving the team and the city than any other sports league, and so this sense of belonging--to say nothing of the relatively smaller numbers--needs to be displayed with pride. It's hard to cherry-pick a team. You almost have to grow up with the one you get, and grow to love it because you love where you're from and who you are and why you are who are. It's the polar opposite of the NBA, which encourages a sort of enlightened detachment from tribalism and provincialism and ridiculous bias -- you know, the fun stuff. Like, everyone has to agree that LeBron is the best, right? That doesn't happen in the NHL. We can't agree on Sidney Crosby being the best because he gets too many secondaries or he had a concussion or just plain fuck the Penguins that's why, bunch of babyfaced shits getting all the calls and they don't even play defense anyway. I mean, do you know how many dead-enders still won't acknowledge that WAYNE FUCKING GRETZKY is the best ever? We can't even sign off on that!

So I guess what I'm saying is that I suppose you could call a hockey fan a "sports fan's sports fan," and so that means more yelling, more screaming, more sports-hate, and more wearing of the uniforms.

I do not and probably will not own a Blackhawks jersey, unless I become famous enough for McDonough to comp me one at some special event. I've no desire to wear sports uniforms.

Basketball jersey - unless a person is fit they look awful wearing one. Also basketball jersey's are a summer clothing when the sport is played when it's cold.

Football - I think weather deters people from wearing jersey's. Warm weather cities have near equivalent ratio to hockey games

Baseball - always thought baseball jersey's are the lamest of the 4 sports in design and function. Also, the ballpark is fun, sun and summer clothing.

Hockey - hockey sweaters are perfect for winter weather outside and colder temp inside arena too. They look cool even if you're a fat guy wearing one.
