Maybe they failed cause she was gay all along?

That's a possibility but I doubt it.

That exact thing happened to my wife's cousin.

I can only speak for myself; but to me, it's crazy to say it's a choice. Some of my earliest memories are of finding girls attractive. I remember being so embarrassed that I found some girl in my class attractive (cooties!). How could I have found boys attractive? Why would I have done it?

I can't find fault with Dan here. The people who treat this as some sort of considered opinion just haven't thought it through. This is the main obstacle in the way of understanding. I think the main reason people choose to believe it's a choice is so they can blame others for making the wrong choice. Once people understand that it's not a choice, there's no justification for hate.

Fail thread.

David Cross has a good bit on homosexuality being a choice so I'll put it here.

I disagree. I don believe it is wrong but still feel it is a choice for some.

Why would someone chose to suck a dick after a lifetime of eating pussy?

Even if that's true of some, it surely isn't true of all. The suicide rates for gay teens pretty much shows that. Dan's right: this simply isn't a matter of opinion. People who portray this as a choice are wrong as a matter of fact.

1. Is homosexuality essentially genetically or biologically determined?

No. Attempts to demonstrate that homosexuality is simply a matter of genes or biology have been unsuccessful. For example, among identical twins, if one twin identifies as ***, only about one in nine twin siblings will also identify as *** (Bailey, Dunne, & Martin, 2000). Although some in the media have used various studies to attempt to support a simple genetic or biological theory, the authors of these research articles have refuted these overreaching claims. Regarding homosexuality, there are simply no variables that are by themselves exclusively predictive of the development of homosexual feelings. On this point, NARTH agrees with the American Psychological Association (2008) statement that, “…no findings have emerged that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors” for a given person.

2. Can change occur in a person’s sexual orientation?

Yes. Some individuals can and do change. Spontaneous change is common and sexual orientation evidences significant fluidity over time, typically towards a heterosexual orientation. For example, exclusive opposite-sex attraction is approximately 17 times more stable than exclusive same-sex attraction for men and 30 times more stable than exclusive same-sex attraction for women (Whitehead & Whitehead, 2011). In addition, many individuals have reported therapy-assisted change in their sexual orientation, across a continuum of change that is not limited simply to identity labeling. Others have reported lesser success, but still experienced reduced attractions and chose to live in a heterosexual relationship or to be celibate. As is the case with all forms of psychological care, some individuals report a lack of change. While some people relapse, there are testimonies of persons who have maintained their changes for several decades. The fact that change is not always categorical and is experienced across a continuum is much the same as with any other human problem or condition.

Just a quick reminder... being gay entails having sex with other men. If any straight man here thinks he could choose to do that, he is gay, and it wasn't a choice. That is all.

But that isn't true either. If a guy had a gun to your head and said, "suck my dick", I suspect you would and that fact wouldn't make you gay.

But, yeah, anyone who thinks it's a choice, why don't you go out this weekend and choose it?

The American Psychological Association, the world’s largest association of psychological professionals, describes sexual orientation as “a complex interaction of environmental, cognitive and biological factors.” There is considerable evidence to suggest that biology, “including genetic or inborn hormonal factors,” plays a significant role in a person’s sexuality.

Really JORR? I have to throw in a caveat about having a gun to your head? And even so, I would consider death. That's because I'm straight and couldn't choose to like sucking dick.

Because I love pussy bro and not those dewy, tumescent, Puerto Rican cocks that I gaze at ever so disgustedly at the bar I don't tell my wife about.

I didn't say you could choose to like it. I said you could choose to do it. if you're straight, that wouldn't make you gay. Just like those college girls you see drunkenly kiss for all the boys on drunken Friday nights. They ain't gay. At least not most of them.

Like it says above if there is a *** gene an identical twin has to have it too. Because an identical twin has the same identical DNA. It also makes the point that there is no single factor that automatically makes someone attracted to people of the same sex.

The choice is simple. If you find yourself as a person who is attracted to the same sex, do you believe that you can change that with therapy or do you just accept what society says? Many of the people who go through therapy are successful. Therapy is not praying the *** away. Even if you think that people don't have a choice, you don't have the right to tell someone who did change their lifestyle that they are still *** or that change wasn't possible for them.

As far as Christianity goes. You can be *** and be a Christian, but you have to choose celibacy and not to engage in inappropriate same sex relationships such as same sex dating, holding hands, kissing, looking at *** *** or other things that are sin.

Okay, you love pussy. I love steak but I don't eat one every night. You can choose cock this weekend, right?

The identical twin have the same genes myth was debunked yesterday.

Keep up.

Let me put it another way. Many gays have married heterosexuals and even had children. They weren't choosing to be straight. They were pretending to be straight.
