Cancelled soaps All My Children and One Life to Live have been rebooted on HULU and Itunes.

I think even if you don't like the shows tv fans should root for this to do well because it's a new avenue especially if you tend to like "obscure" shows.

The thing that might hurt AMC is no Susan Lucci.

Hulu can die an agonizing death in the flames of internet hell.

Why would "TV fans" root for cheap sets, bad acting, and hysterically awful dialogue? The death of daytime soap operas has been one of the best things to happen to network television in years.

The point of first-run on-demand, I feel, is that Television As Art or Television As Meaningful Information is something that you will devote time to on your schedule, like choosing that now is a good time to watch a good movie, listen to a good podcast, or read a good book. Soap operas don't stand alone as programs for the sake of programs; they're nothing more than and have never been more than a bunch of clowning around to fill time between commercials for diapers, detergent, and douches. They're a relic of a bygone era when people didn't ask more of the old medium and couldn't possibly be more ill-suited to this new one.

The ONLY daytime soap left on ABC's schedule right now is "General Hospital", which debuted in 1963. I don't care for soaps either, but there's been talk that the genre on the whole is on borrowed time and that online outlets such as Hulu will be how it continues. It's not just "All My Children" & "One Life to Live", but other soaps on other networks might not be far behind in due time.

Reality TV amounts to nothing more than a bunch of clowning around in between product placements that precede commercials. That genre seems to be flourishing in this "new" era.

The problem with soap operas is that the writing is so putrid and the writing is putrid because they have new episodes 5 days a week. The acting is meh, but the actors don't have anything to work with.

Here's my idea for a new reality show. It combines Hoarders and Intervention. We get the hoarders hooked on crystal meth so they are forced to sell their possessions to buy crank. By the time their houses are empty they should be famous enough to go on Dancing With The Stars.
