Good lord Clayton Richard can give up some home runs. 7 already this year after giving up 31 last year in a pitchers park. With the fences moved in at Petco he can give up a 40 spot this year. Shesh.

2013 home 12.2 IP 1 HR
road 8.1 IP 5 HR thru 4th at Wrigley tonight

Hard to believe, but Gregg has actually been pretty good out of the pen.

Bowden has been good to. He deserves some respect for how he has pitched this first month.

He is a competent journeyman. But let's remember, his saves have been against the Fish and the Padres. Not exactly top flight major league caliber teams.

But good to see nonetheless.

And at least he throws strikes.

Except for giving it up against MIL.

He should stick though as a 6th inning guy when Fuji returns. If I had to guess, Cameron "Longball" Loe will probably be DFA'd.

Bogusevich and his .420 average need to replace Sappelt already.

Ian Stewart has now played in 11 Iowa games and is awful at .100. I think they only let you play 15 games on a rehab assignment so his awfulness will be returning soon unfortunately.

I will never fucking understand the Cubs fascination with Ian Stewart. It borders on the Dusty/Neifi Perez relationship.

They probably feel stupid for making the trade and don't want to admit failure yet. DJ and Colvin are in AAA but both are hitting over .300.

Hell of a start Jackson  So basically you have to put up 5 runs for him to get a win. Awesome.

Even though Feldman has been tolerable through 2.....it is worth noting that Garza pitched today in AA. He only got 42 or so pitches through 2 1/3

I didn't realize that Feldman actually has a very respectable ERA that is in the low 3's. I have given him a lot of shit but he is kicking ass tonight (of course he will give it up next inning now that I say this). The pitcher on the staff thats been fucking garbage is Jackson. ERA in the 6's.

I wonder if they will have the balls to put Jackson in the pen when Garza is ready assuming the current levels of performance continue.

Maybe they can sell high on Feldman after tonight's game - lol!

Nice game last night to break the landmarked designation "uninterrupted sweep of the Cubbies". Go Ricketts!

Feldman has had back to back quality starts (and wins) . However, they have been against the Marlins and Padres, two of the more offensively challenged teams in the league. But he was said to have made some adjustments on his sinker and it seems to be moving more and is much more effective. I hope it traslates into quality starts against more formidable teams as well.

Jackson never should have been signed. He was 70-71 going into this season with a 4.40 ERA. Now, add 0-4 with a 6.27 ERA for 2013 and it's 70-75 with a 4.45 The guy can't locate his pitches, so the idea that he has "great stuff" is crap. It doesn't matter if your pitch breaks sharply, if you can't locate the pitch in/near the strike zone. He gets behind in counts regularly and when a hitter has a pitcher in a predictable count, bad things tend to happen. Dumb signing as I said before they even signed him.

I had a running thread of fading Feldman in the wagering section but not even I am brave enough to put my money on the Marlins anytime or the Padres on the road. The warm weather will not be kind to him.

You and I were in lockstep about Jackson. It was the one odd ball move of the whole plan and not warranted for an Edwin Jackson type.

It was odd. You sign guys like Feldman, Villanueva and Baker to short term deals, in hopes they perform well enough to bring a quality prospect in a trade at/near the deadline. But a guy like Jackson can't be dealt. He's been on 8 teams for a reason....teams all found out that he lacks command and is basically a .500 pitcher (now 70-75 lifetime with a 4.45 ERA) and are not interested in paying a guy like him big money. He will have games where he goes 6-7 shutout innings or more and strikes out 10-12 maybe more. But he will have just as many or more games where he is bad. Now they have another contract they will be challenged to move. Just as they have gotten rid of the Zambrano, Ramirez and Lee contracts over the past few years and have really only Soriano's left....they sign this boob?? 14 million a season? I would rather they brought Zambrano back for 2 years at 4 million a season. Hell, he would be around .500 and in 2 seasons he's gone and you saved 20 million over those years as well. I did not want Zambrano back at all, I'm just using it as an example of a move however bad, I still would have liked better.

Like I said when they signed Jackson,if they kept Maholm for this season, they could have saved 50 million. I got mocked when I said it but it looks good to me right now. Maholm was off to a strong start too.
