No but that "our guys are in the majors" thing is kinda bs. Every team has that.

You are not even telling the entire story. The Sox had several hot CF prospects ahead of Anderson in the minors. KW traded all of them away to clear Anderson's ascension. In fairness, I think the only one who is still in baseball is Sweeney and he is on the fringe.

Chris Sale

That's a pretty good list.
Just for a little perspective

Szmardzija
James Russell
Anthony Rizzo
Starlin Castro
Travis Wood
Wellington Castillo

Eh, its an ok list.
If Castillo develops, he is the #1 player on that Cub list

How is Kenny's "athlete" first round pick doing? Last I looked he had a good amount of stolen bases but was just above Dunn territory as far as his average.

You're trying too hard this morning.

I think the SS on a hall of fame pace and the 30 homerun first baseman might have higher ceilings.

30 HR first baseman is fairly pedestrian. That HOF SS was being considered for a different position by his appreciative team just a few months a go in spring training. A catcher who can hit and field is invaluable.

I believe that guy is the youngest player in minor league baseball who has flashed four tools...you know, the same type of player who was being penciled in for a starting positon with the Cubs next year.

Not anymore. You still have steroid era numbers in your head.

Castros value is in his bat, which is the hall of fame pace I referred to.

I disagree about catchers. I mean I think they are important, but the bat is largely a bonus, its all about the handling of the staff

He went to junior college so there is no way he is the youngest player. He has shown no flashes of power either. His average is .195 and he steals bases....lots of em. Kinda weird to be 6'3 190 and have zero power. You might be talking about someone else. I'm talking about Keenyn Walker.

Courtney Hawkins was drafted out of Carrol High School in Corpus Cristi, Texas.

He's batting .195 and slugging .256

Which tools are you referring to?

I guess I just made the reasonable assumption that when you were talking about the most recent first round athlete.

ok...courtney hawkings is hitting a robust .177 in high a and has struck out 45 times in 79 at bats. He should be in low a. Why push a guy that fast?? He also has 7 hrs though so congrats on developing an Adam Dunn that can play the field. He is also on the DL for something it seems.

his time in Kannapolis and Winston Salem last year when where he posted .631 and .588 slg while playing CF at 6'3" and 220 which put him at #55 on the BA list...but you already know this as you spend far more time on minor leagues than I do

I was also referring to Walker. I knew that's who UMN was talking about

But apparently, you follow the minors a lot more than you let on. Ill remind you of that next time you rip Cub fans for that exact post /\

All their "top prospects" are hitting like .177. What's the difference which one you are referring to?

No.

You're excited about a 19 year old who is at least 2 years away from the big leagues and your quoting Single A stats and BA rankings. This is the exact thing you have railed against.

You're thinking of Carlos Sanchez. He's the youngest player in triple A. Courtney Hawkins is the third youngest player in high A. But don't worry yourself about such minute details. A minors leaguers stat line tells the whole story anyway.

A stat line that bad says something. From what I have heard he has a very long and busy swing. It gives him tremendous power but also makes him late on decent heat and has him all over the place on off speed pitches when he trys to cheat earlly to keep up with the heat. Totally fixable but again...why the hell is he in high A already. Be patient.

They have to keep challenging minor leaguers. Keeping players at lower levels to accumulate hollow numbers is useless. Baseball is hard. The earlier they learn that the better.

He only had 65 ab's at Low A and then a late season bump to high A for a few games and he is a high school guy. I think you have to give a guy half a season at a level and if he is ready then make the move.

I agree that you need to push guys but he had a total of 59 minor league games under his belt. That is way too damn fast.

I don't have a beef with where they put him, considering his pedigree and brief success. But the K rate is alarming. Now he's got a shoulder injury? That can't be good.

All you youngsters out there, look up a guy named Earl Cunningham.

IT was a good call.

Tyler Flowers fucking sucks. He can't hit and apparently can't field either. This play and all of the past balls are inexcusable. Hahn's biggest mistake so far this year has been letting AJ go. Its one thing if they would have lost out on a bidding war, but they didn't even make him an offer.
