Sounds good to me, will definitely be making the trips up there to hit up Thunderhawk and Shepards Crook this summer.

What didn't you like about Winnetka? Was it simply the price or is there more to it? I've played Winnetka a few times. Greens were in great shape, but the rest of the course needs work. I'm just curious what you and others think about it.

Gonna be 80 degrees today, so time to hit Winnetka Golf Club this afternoon. Plus, it's being paid for by a builder due to my recommendation of him to a customer, who is now having him build their new house. He's supposed to be a pretty good golfer as well, so it should be a fun and fast round. Cohibas will be employed too, as I got a new box on Saturday. Why can't every day be just this good....

I really enjoyed the round. I like the track there just fine. The course was in great shapeand it wasn't backed up either, so we moved at a good pace. Glorious day in a beautiful setting.

Shot my lowest round ever - 76. Played at Sandy Hollow in Rockford, an old-school parkland style course.

Didn't really drive the ball all that well, but 7 iron through wedges were totally dialed in. Had 4 birdies in 6 holes and was 3 under after 4 holes on the back. Weird round considering how erratic the driver was.

Got back last night from my golf trip to Orlando. Here is the play by play.

Got in Wednesday, played 9 holes with my friend Joe after he got off work. Also played with his 7 year old son who is pretty much a prodigy.

Thursday played Red Tail. Really nice course. Drove the ball well, but struggled with ball striking and was terrible with chipping. Think I shot a 95 or 96. Don't remember because afterwards we went and met a few old friends for beers and we each put down 11 beers (all 9% alcohol) in 3.5 hours. Forgot to eat anything and ended up spending the rest of the night and morning puking.

So that brings us nicely to Friday and a bar sponsored 4 man scramble. Started dry heaving at the course when i saw someone drinking a beer. Actually didn't play bad that day surprisingly.

Next day was the start of our 2v2 match with a round at the Ritz. My buddy has a hook up there so the $180 round was completely free! Ritz was beautiful as you would imagine. 6700 yards long and probably 6000 yards wide. But around the green it was really tough, 2 inch thick bermuda that grabbed your club and wouldn't let go and the greens were running at about a 14. Played terrible and shot a 99. Afterwards we didn't really stick around which sucks cause later on my buddy's hook up at the course (the course pro) called and asked where we were cause he was 3 groups behind us playing a round with Michael Phelps and they wanted to meet up for drinks! DAMN! So pissed we missed out on that! Another thing at the course...on #15 a guy drives out in a cart and gives us complimentary white chocolate truffles shaped like golf balls. Can't say I've ever had that happen at a golf course.

So, going into day 2 of our tourny we were down 1 point. We play 2 points a hole, low ball and low total. My buddy shoots in the mid to upper 70s and so does his neighbor was on the other team. Our other friend is usually in the upper 80s to mid 90s. So my 99 didn't cut it. We had some work to do.

I realized that I had gotten away from the swing I had learned in my lesson and I made it my mission to do it right on every swing on Sunday. We played at Eagle Dunes and I played great. 3 birdies on the front including a 45 foot uphill downhill and then 15 feet of break putt that started through 5 feet of fringe. I ended up with an 82 for the day. Overall I played 3 holes at +8 and then the other 15 at +2. Missed 2 one foot putts :( to go along with the 75 feet in birdie putts I made. We ended up smoking them since the two good players shot 76 and the other guy shot 94.

Great time, can't wait to get back out there and see if I'm turning the corner or if Sunday was a fluke.

The University of Illinois won their respective regional to make the NCAA championships as a team for the 6th
straight year. They had 4 golfers place in the top 10 individually, all of who were underclassman. Pretty
impressive. Mike Small is building a nice program down in Champaign.

Played as a sub in a league in Schaumburg for the first time yesterday. I never thought we would play with all the rain coming down earlier in the day. But it cleared up and play we did. I like playing after some rain, as the ball just sticks on the green and you can play target golf. Shot a 41 on the Tournament course and won my match by 6 strokes and 4 holes. Nobody was getting much roll, but it worked out well as the driver was really working (as well as the putter). Only lost on 1 hole, so the guy I subbed for was very happy. I thought that guys in a golf league would be better players, but there were a lot of high handicap golfers.

Shot 76 today, drove it better than I have in years. My irons were awful, but it felt to have a good day like that.

76....that is awesome.

I've broken 80 once in about 30 plus years of golfing.

Up in Wisconsin for the weekend, shot 85 yesterday at Tuscumbia, the oldest of second oldest course in wisconsin depending on who you ask. Real tight fairways lined by trees on both sides, tiny greens, but little to know trouble of any form aside from a few bunkers here and there.

Then played today at Mascoutin and fired off an 80! Best round I've had in 7 years. Totally choked on 18 though. Was lying 2 100 yards out with a PW, all I gotta do is par and I have a 79 and I of course mis hit and hook it into the bunker, end up holing a 12 footer just to save bogey. But, can't really complain with an 80.

My last 3 rounds since changing my swing....82, 85, 80. Its gonna be a good summer :)

Played Woodbine on Saturday. The first 4 holes, it was like I had never swung a golf club in my life. I took an 11 on a par 3. 11 fucking shots to get the ball 153 yards. Had a 31 after 4 holes, ended up with a 99 so I got it together after that.

Played a 9 hole hidden gem of a course called Oak Hills off of 131st and 76th ave. Course was in absolutely beautiful condition. 4 par 3s, 2 par 5s, and 3 par 4s. If any of you are ever in that area, check it out. Really, really nice course and quite challenging. 2 of the par 3's carry over water, and one is really freakin narrow between the treest. PLayed 2 balls and shot 42-42. Not great scores, but the swings were much better and I was happy overall. Can't see to hit the driver anymore though :?

Breaking 100 after that start is pretty impressive.

I just got a Cleveland Launcher DST driver. Guy in my foursome had it sitting in his bag and let me hit for a round. Hit it well and love the feel of it. It's verrrry light. And for 50 bucks you can't beat it.

Decided against better judgment to go out and play this morning after playing the previous two days. It was 50 degrees and drizzling, but wanted to give the challenging Links course at Lawsonia a shot since I have been playing so well.

Had trouble in the cold and didn't really commit to any swings, finished with a 93. Can't really complain, as bad as I played a 93 isn't terrible out there. I think I only had 2-3 pars all day, but nothing worse than a double bogey. Kept pulling irons all day, but did well around the green and in the bunkers. Putted reasonably well considering how tough those greens are. Lost several shots by less than a foot that if they had just been a foot the other direction I would've saved 1-2 strokes.

The course was not in good shape which is disappointing. Last year it was in awful shape because of the drought, but I was surprised to see several greens chewed up considering we've had lots of rain this year. I'm going to give it another shot around the 4th to see if they improve the condition, but if its bad again I'll be removing Lawsonia from the rotation. Hate to see a course living off its reputation and not keeping the course in shape.

Shot 75(+5) in very tough conditions. Have driven the ball for 2 straight days like I used to in college. I am busy next weekend, but would be willing to drive down and play with whoever can that following weekend. Let me know if you are intersted.

Have never played there, but the winter kill on the golf courses this year up here has been bad, it is one of the courses that is on my list.

Can't believe it didn't rain this afternoon. A bit cool but conditions were really quite agreeable. The greens were soft so it was easy to get the ball to check up. Plus, the fairways were dry enough to get some roll, so drives were getting good distance too. Shot a 3 over 73 at Fox Run and really only had 2 shots I wasn't happy with. By far the best round of the year to date. Hope to play on Wednesday or Thursday afternoon again in Winnetka.

Steve, kind of like Chus I would play you in golf just about any time. Meaning it would have to be a time when I could make it work with my schedule.

I would (and do) play golf with Danny Mac and I would have played a round of Golf with Joe Orr had he not indicated having charachter flaws I found too objectionable. You, I have no desire to meet or spend time with. I'm a 12 handicap, so the 73 was an exceptional round for me. I have broken 80 several times, but I also topped 90 (92) earlier this season. But I learned over the years that the degree to which I enjoy a round of golf really varies depending on whom I play the game with. Playing with someone I don't know or want to know, is not appealing. If you think I'm lying in this thread, you can check the score I carded this past Wednesday at Schaumburg Golf Club for the league that tees off at 4:30-5:00. As I indicated, I shot a 41 that day. I have no idea how well (or poorly) you play and don't care. I just have no desire to meet you.

The greens were fine down the street at Mascoutin and Tuscumbia so I can't accept that as an excuse.

Really a shame, I've been in love with Lawsonia since me and my dad started going there in the mid 80s. Going there for years is what prompted my parents to buy a house in Green Lake. Every summer when my buddies come up from Florida we finish our tournament with 36 at Lawsonia and even 45 holes there last summer. Really a shame to see a once great course slack when it comes to upkeep. I'll give the Links and the Woodlands another look when I'm there for 4th of July and let you know if the conditions have improved. Really hope they have cause they are two dynamite and diverse tracks. The Woodlands is beautiful without any other holes in sight of the hole you are playing. You'll see more deer than golfers. The Links is a true test of golf. Every green is elevated a steep 20 feet and surrounded by bunkers and false fronts. Each green has at least 2-3 shelves/levels with 4 feet of height difference from one to the next. And they usually run at a 13.

I would love to play golf with you, Hawg. I can't shoot 75, but I guarantee that we would have fun.

I have never played golf with Mac, nor do I have the desire to do so with someone who willingly spends time with a proud racist like Steve.

Shit, I was just going to message you to see if you wanted to play this weekend.

Finally moved into my place so after only golfing twice this season it is time to get out once or twice a week.
Hopefully hit the range this week.

Played 45 holes over the weekend. Some good, some bad.

Let's just say I will be staying far away from Settler's Hill from this point forward.

Played 45 holes over the weekend. Some good, some bad.

Let's just say I will be staying far away from Settler's Hill from this point forward.

I am in if I can just play the first ten holes.

I seem to remember hearing a lot of bad things about Settler's Hill.

Question for the northerners:

Any of you ever played University Ridge and/or Hawks Landing in Madison? Looking for a new place to take the fellas this summer on our annual Wisconsin golf outing and have heard great things about UR, haven't heard much about Hawks Landing other than that they are close to each other and its a nice course.

We'll be in Green Lake, but I think Madison is only an hour to an hour and a half away so its doable. We did Erin Hills last year and the previous two years we made the trek out to Kohler for WS and BR. Was thinking Sentry World, but I read that its shut down for all of 2013.

Might try and do 36 in Madison in one day between UR and HL if its feasible.
