Does he carry the ball at 00:25? This isn't some anomaly or missed call. He was allowed to do that all the time.

Yeah, but isn't a guy taking 3-4 steps without dribbling as he goes in for a slam or layup even more of a thorny issue?

I'm not really picking on Jordan. He's probably the guy that exploited those non-calls the most though. That's the way the NBA game is called.

That wasn't a carry. His hand was never under the ball.

Plus, that wasn't an everyday play anyway. He rarely went to the crossover.

Even if Jordan carried most of the time, he's hardly the only player to ever do it so consistently. Most infamously, Allen Iverson's standard dribble blurred the line between a carry and a legitimate dribble. Everyone ball handler does it to some degree, so it seems odd to pick on Jordan. It's no different than briefly holding a guy's arm while screening him, or pushing the guy boxing you out before jumping for the rebound, all of which are illegal but everyday occurrences nonetheless.

You quoted me above saying "That's the way the NBA game is called." I wasn't picking on Jordan. But I will say I don't ever remember anyone palming the ball and dribbling from underneath regularly until he did it and got away with it.

Rodman would be the X factor in such a matchup.

Kid - I love watching the old Youtube videos of Da Bulls. Check out game 1 of the Bulls-Magic in '96. Rodman had 13 and 21 and D'd up Shaq like noboby's business. I had actually forgotten how effective Rodman was until I went back and watched some old videos. Also, I was pretty young then, so I didn't appreciate everything he did.

Also... even though I own "Air Time," if anyone doesn't, Youtube "Michael Jordan Air Time Part 6" and watch game 1 of the '92 Finals set to some music and crowd reactions. Brings a tear to my eye.

Absolutely.

I gave myself the assignment of watching all three Bulls/Pistons ECFs from 1989 through 1991, to give myself better perspective since I was way too young to understand what I was watching. There were some very interesting observations about the coaching of both teams, the offenses and defenses run, and Jordan's overall game. One of my conclusions is that Jordan would not have won a championship with Doug Collins coaching him but there are many reasons for that. I'm considering doing a writeup/summary.

The Suns series was my favorite. Every game was such an event.

Agreed on the Suns series.

I've also made some very interesting observations in revisiting the '91 Finals. The '92 series is a blur, so I will eventually have to revisit that as well.

Buck Williams flopping around and Terry Porter whining and stomping like a bitch, plus Bobby Hanson before he was a penus.

Good times.

The reason why the Jordan, Pippen Bulls would beat the Heat is because they would have more rebounding from Horace Grant or Dennis Rodman, they would have better center play and Pippen in his prime could guard LeBron. Plus Jordan and Pippen are better than LeBron and Wade. I wouldn't say that Pippen is better than LeBron, but Pippen was definitely better than Wade. The one difference in the game would be that Miami would shoot a lot of threes and during the Bulls championship run three-point shooting was mostly for point guards and shooting guards that came off the bench. Now everyone including Chris Bosh is jacking up threes.

Well, I don't think anyone could really guard LeBron, but Scottie could guard him enough.
