The aerial pictures are really tough to look at. Not just a strip of houses, entire blocks. Four or five at a time. Wow.

Hoping for just some t-storms here. I didn't spend $12 per hosta for these things not to grow.

I used to trample the shit out of my mothers Hostas. Still bitches at me for that. 20+ year later.

It's all timing and that is hard to predict when the ingredients aren't solid for forecasters. But yeah, the US meteorologists outside of the storm prediction center are relying on inferior computer models and just now going to the better European models after the Euros invested so much time and brain cells into new modeling because of global warming. So in a way you could say that this is the first negative effect of the mindless turds who cannot see what is right in front of them.

Although there were some decent storms along the mesoscale discussion area from i-80 south. Lots of significant hail and wind.

I think the general rule of thumb is just below the halfway point of your wheel. Or you could just not take the chance like most people. Needless to say this guy finds himself on LSD in a blizzard.

Don't believe the Jeep commercials. They stopped making the only good Jeep when they stopped making the boxy Cherokee. That is if you wanted an actual SUV with sack.

... SCATTERED STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE LATE THIS AFTERNOON...

SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TO DEVELOP ACROSS NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA THIS AFTERNOON. THESE THUNDERSTORM COULD PRODUCE WIND GUSTS TO 50 MPH... SMALL HAIL... AND KILLER CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING. CONDITIONS ARE ALSO SOMEWHAT FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS AND IT IS POSSIBLE THAT ANY ONE OF THESE STORMS COULD BECOME SEVERE... SO STAY TUNED FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.

We're fucked.

My nephew's school cancelled their outdoor field trip today last night due to thunderstorms today. It is not supposed to start raining until after 3pm now...

When the forecast calls for severe storms with damaging hail, why take a chance? 3 PM is when they are predicted to start. They could fire up at any time.

Indeed. This is a very unstable atmosphere with the warm moisture being pulled up from the gulf (as evidenced by the high dewpoints and mugginess outside), with the cool winds aloft of the jet stream blowing over the top and meeting right over the midwest and eastern plains today. We are actually lucky that the tornado threat for us is as low as it is.

The forecast is so dire Mac and Spiegs had Kaplan on to ask him if Mac's satellite dish was in jeopardy of missing the Hawks game tonight.
