Dolis....god dammit. He is Marmol 2.0

They should have 60 day DL'ed Camp and kept Bowden on the roster.

Camp should be sent to the waiver wire. He blows goats.

Camp to the DL is a joke but Tommy probably doesn't want to act like a big market team and eat the 1M salary. They clearly fucked up in not solidifying the bullpen in the offseason. Just think if they didn't get lucky with Gregg or if he implodes. They will again be in the 100 loss club.

I guess Svuem had a big meeting with the bullpen guys today so I'm sure that'll make all the difference in the world!

Jon Rauch is available after getting his release from the Marlins and clearing waivers. I don't care if he has sucked this year. He has been decent in the past and is worth a shot. Minor league deal, put him in AAA and call him up when you release Camp.

I guess...but the grass isn't always greener.

Minor league deals don't really hurt though...why not?

He's tall and doesn't have the world's gayest goatee like Camp. I am all for this.

The grass could be greener. I can't imagine what kind of a mindset the veterans on that Miami team had and have this season. I wouldn't be surprised if he was in fuck it and chuck it mode. There is no light at the end of their tunnel like the Cubs have. There is just their owner giving everyone a big fuck you.

This is kind of interesting. If you put this sort of thing (the difference between numbers and actual W/L record) on the manager, then the "Fire Sveum!" Camp has some validity.

Pretty interesting writeup about it over on Fangraphs http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-2013-cubs-better-than-we-think/

They have to be dead ass last in the scoring RISP with less than 2 outs. They fail at executing what are simple at bats for most teams.

Don't worry. Svuem will shuffle the lineup and will create some offense. He won't stand pat and stare at the field like a fucking statue.

Yes, it would be worth investigating.

Let me get this straight. First you call into Mac to say that you don't think Sveum is using the pitching staff and the bullpen correctly. The bullpen is so bad, you think Jon Rauch, who was released from the 13 win Marlins, would be worth a look for the Cubs bullpen? Doesn't that kind of explain why Sveum sticks with his starters longer than normal?

C'mon man. You have to physically TRY to be this stupid.

Giving Rauch a minor league deal hurts no one if he'd take it.

I never said it would. I am just pointing out that the Cubs bullpen is so bad, that this actually seems like a move that could help. It certainly wouldn't hurt.

Yet Steve calls radio shows saying that Sveum is leaving his starters in too long. And he is, because the bullpen sucks!

Rizzo is something like 0-24. Give him a fucking day off. You can see he is extremely frustrated with his hitting. Give him a day to relax and collect himself. Yesterday's noon getaway day game would have been perfect but Swaimer just puts him in the lineup and he continues to not hit.

Dale Svuem: gets a scoreless 7th out of Rule 5 guy Rondon so he brings him back in the 8th and boom, 2 run homer.

Can't like maybe let the guy get 1 inning in and build confidence and maybe uses Kujikama (or whatever his name is) for the 8th. No bring him back out to make a 1 run defict a 3 run deficit.

Dale Svuem, hitting coach, now managing your Chicago Cubs.

:drunken: :drunken:

Giving Rondon the hook after that nice 7th would have been good for his confidence but I'm sure swaimer has some reason for going 2 with him.

Yep, Svuem is always 3-4 moves ahead of everyone else. One of the many reasons Theo gave him his first gig to manage. A move surely he does not regret.

Most of his decisions are meaningless in the grand scheme of things right now but I don't understand his philosophy on managing a game.

It's the zombie approach. Stare at the field in a semi-comatose state.

I thought he had a bench coach background. What did his job entail, passing out sunflower seeds?

remember back when the NFL went and copyrighted the term "blackbowl" before the 2006 season started? just like they did with "harbowl" b4 last season? it's a fait accompli. and it all comes back to lovie "love ya suit" smith and dick jauron's staff. who is scott ostrosky?

Marmol has nothing. So let's leave him in to give up 4 runs and blow a 3-0 lead.

Nice job Dale!

There were other options though. He could have also pulled his ass after the meltdown started.

By Charlie Wilmoth [June 16 at 8:35pm CST]

Cubs manager Dale Sveum says his team has no intention of releasing struggling reliever Carlos Marmol and eating the rest of his $9.8MM salary, Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune reports. "We've come to find out that he has trouble with the last three outs," says Sveum. "But somebody has to pitch the other innings, and he's done a pretty good job in that role."

Svuem really sounds pissed about blowing that game.

Unreal.

Are Dale & Theo buddies? Why the hell did Theo hire him to manage the Cubs? I'll be surprised if Sveum has a long career as a baseball manager.
Should have hired my guy Sandberg.
