Question for the northerners:

Any of you ever played University Ridge and/or Hawks Landing in Madison? Looking for a new place to take the fellas this summer on our annual Wisconsin golf outing and have heard great things about UR, haven't heard much about Hawks Landing other than that they are close to each other and its a nice course.

We'll be in Green Lake, but I think Madison is only an hour to an hour and a half away so its doable. We did Erin Hills last year and the previous two years we made the trek out to Kohler for WS and BR. Was thinking Sentry World, but I read that its shut down for all of 2013.

Might try and do 36 in Madison in one day between UR and HL if its feasible.

Been meaning to get to University Ridge for years but never made it. I drove by Sentry World last Thursday
and you are correct, it is ripped to shreds right now. Don't know anything about Hawks Landing. There is a
decent looking course just east of Madison on I-94 called The Oaks Golf Club but again never played there.
Lake Geneva has a pretty decent selection of courses between Geneva National, Grand Geneva and a newer
track called Hawk's View.

Need to figure out how far Lake Geneva is from Green Lake to see if that's a possibility.

You ever played the Bull or the Bog? I think the Bull is up near Kohler (it says it is in Sheboygan Falls, I assume that's near Sheboygan??) and I think the Bog is just north of Milwaukee.

Yep, we played Washington County last year. Can't say enough good things about it. We're definitely playing it again this year on the day they fly in since its on the way from Milwaukee to Green Lake.

I would say that Washington County is the best bang for the buck of any course I've played in the past decade. I think it was around $50 and it looks and plays like a course that would cost around $100. It wasn't as nice as Erin Hills obviously, but it definitely wasn't $250 worse than Erin Hills.

I agree. I'm sure I've played it before cause I have a logo ball from there, but it was at least 7 years ago. Who else lives up that way? Maybe we can get a 4some together some weekend?

How about Furious Styles, he lives around Des Plaines which isn't that much of a hike. I'll email him and ask.

After 7 spine surgeries my days of walking golf courses are over. That said, bouncing around in a cart isn't exactly a pleasurable experience, but its still less wear and tear than walking with a pullcart. Kinda sucks cause I think you play better when you walk since you have more time to think about your shot as you are walking up to it.

But if you want to walk that's fine with me, I'm more than happy to ride alongside in a cart at a very slow pace and chat.

I think June 8 works for me. I'd rather not drive all the way to the Wisconsin border, but maybe we can find something near O'hare/cultural mecca that would kinda be in the middle for most of us. Pencil me in for now. I can't commit 100% but I will try and keep the date open. Are we thinking morning, mid day, twilight?

:lol: I know, and I was.

I'm doubtful for 6/8. Went over the handlebars of my bicycle and land squarely on both hands. 72 hours after my lowest round ever. Can't even hold a club, let alone swing one right now. Hopefully I'm just looking at serious bone bruises on each palm, the wrists themselves don't feel too bad.

I'll know more later today. So pissed. Think I'll stick to motorcycles...
