unless they win.

So far Hawk is tolerable through 3 batters. The camo looks better on the Sox than the Cubs. Batting helmets should be WW2 green replicas.

Jesus fucking christ soriano. Way to pimp a double into a single you jackass.

It has to be The Cell. Borbon hasn't gone yard since 2011 and he only had 3 that year. I have always wondered where guys like De Aza and D Wise got their power from and there must just be something conducive to little guy power at the cell.

You stand a good chance of seeing Herm Schnieder and his gut trot out to the mound at least.

At least you aren't going to KC to watch Almora this next week now that he blew his hammy today.

They manufactured a run!!!! That never happens. They never score that lead off man on 2nd without getting a hit.

If all else fails, attack a 3rd base coach.

3 innings for the pen not to fuck this up though Shark has a low pitch count right now. I don't even think he is at 70 yet.

Cell looks pretty empty. No rain, not too cold.....also no runs and just 1 hit through 8 innings and down 7-0    Cubs look good, but then again, it's only the Sox.

Hell of a game by the Shark. He was efficient early and had plenty of gas left to finish it off.

And they finally gave him some runs.

Great game.

Good to see those runs for Jeff. Looks like he's made some adjustments too. If he can harness his stuff, the guy will be an ace. Keep Garza, then Wood plus Gray/Appel (if they get one and they are real) and they will have the makings of a very competitive rotation.

Garza needs to learn the lesson Shark has about trying to strike out the world and burning yourself out after 5 innings. His pitch counts have been really high in his minor league appearances and 2 big league starts.

Agreed. But I'd take my chances with him on a 4 year deal unless they are blown away with a deal.

I think they had less than 35K in attendance. Every monitor that showed the Blackhawks was being crowded with no one watching the baseball game. I brought a client to the game. He wanted to watch the Hawks, so after the 4th inning we went up and watched the game.

So how many runs will Edwin Jackson surrender tonight? 5, 6, 8?? Or will he pull a rabbit out of his ass and pitch well??

Wellington Castillo just made sure the Cubs will score at least 2 more runs of Sale than I thought they would. About damn time you hit another one out.

Sure hope they can get back to get an official game out of this one. The Sox are not hitting and with 2 runs already off Sale, I would hate to have this one rained out.

On the bright side, the Sox burned their best pitcher for the series. Of course, he hadn't pitched all that well. Not like Samardzjia, who pitched like a true ace in a 2 hit shutout.

Feldman has thrown a lot of pitches already. I'm guessing if he gets through the 6th, that will be it for him.

Nice job in the 6th by Feldman. He's thrown 104 pitches now, so I think he will be yanked. But with the good job he did in the 6th and the bottom of the order coming up, perhaps not. With the bullpen not working the past 2 days, I would take him out to give guys like Russell and Gregg a chance to pitch and stay sharp. Have Villanueva work the 7th.

Holy shit Navarro. Dropping bombs from both sides. That does not happen very often for any switch hitter.

I remember Baron Von Mitterwald, the last Cubs catcher to go deep 3 times in a game.

Good catcher.

Only 31,000??? You are talking about a team that lost over 100 games last season, is currently 21-30 and playing another non-contender that is 24-26 currently. AND...the game was played in advance of a Hawks playoff game 7. Selling 31,000 is pretty respectable. Of course, if they keep beating weak teams like the Sox, some fans might get fooled into thinking the team is better than it is at this point and they might sell even more tickets.

Not that it'll help immensely when both teams are this hopeless, but on general principle, the crosstown games should always be Memorial Day weekend and 4th of July weekend (or closest to it), alternating sides with holidays each year. Four games on weekdays, who cares.

It's not so much needing the holiday weekends to draw as it is keeping some aura of annual tradition around the games. I just like the idea of it being A Thing; it's 4th of July, you have a cookout, fuck around with cheap fireworks, and the Cubs are playing the Sox.
