The back to back Saturday Sunday games sucks, but at least the Hawks get em at home. It would REALLY suck to have to be on the road in LA for that. The Kings get the worse end of the deal on that.

indeed yes, but the hawks needed to win in order to have the final 4 be the last 4 winners.

and i'll be damned if they didn't carry the day.....well done hawks! the last few games have been exciting hockey that i've enjoyed, seeing as i usually can't be arsed with hockey but hey, with the local #1 story being the #1 team facing an early out, i tuned in to see if they'd go out like bitches, and indeed that isn't the case quite yet. now you can only hope that they don't have superbravado like if they go down 3-1 again it's like "oh yeah OK we got this" --- DON'T GO GETTING DOWN 2 GAMES IN A SERIES YE OLDE HAWKS!

I still can't believe the roller coaster this was. I am very happy. As for Kings Quick can't play that much better than Howard did.

yeah, i leave the series really impressed with jimmy howard. he made some great saves when there were onslaughts of hawks coming at him, especially in game 5. they've got something there, and if this is the archetype of the NHL in terms of how to build perennial contenders, welp, this lot should be a real bitch again in a couple'a years.

I wasn't that impressed with Howard, personally. And if the Coyotes don't move to QC and the Wings go into a Boston/Toronto/Montreal/Ottawa division after all, their future isn't that bright. They also need defensemen badly.

Well, at least the Hawks won in OT. If they lose in OT, everyone would be talking about that penalty call.

Almost everytime they got elevation on their shots they were going in. Howard is vunerable to his high glove but damn near impervious 12 inches off the ice and below.

The amount of rage that flowed through my body on that disallowed goal is just...I don't know. I really have no words for what happened tonight and how it ended. I'm just a happy gay right now and my heart still hurts.

Bring on the Kings.

don cherry was literally besides himself over the call. he can't believe it.... they didn't hear the whistle on the replay (i swear i think i did, but i'm unsure) and like.... yeah. the ref had the awareness of the situation to make it a double penalty so he didn't get shat on or maybe even literally murdered by the crowd.... can you imagine how that'd go down if it was just a red wings penalty there and then the hawks go on and lose this? detroit commits a penalty to negate the hawks' winning goal and then goes on to win?

yeah, saad had to get dragged into that penalty to save face. i guess he got 2mins for being checked over the boards. CBC announcers STILL saying that they have no idea what saad did to get the penalty.

If it was only a call against only the Red Wings player, play would have continued until the Red Wings got control of the puck. That never happened before the puck went into the net. So the goal would have counted.

Kronwall was the best Red Wing on the ice tonight, he played a great game...yet his redirect of Seabs shot results in the winning goal for the Hawks.

Honorable mention to Zetterberg, who could not be taken off the puck for shifts at a time. Oh, and scored on a goalie who had a petit mal seizure or something.

All the chain stuff there. Also look up a sports bar on google with Monroeville called Dave's. Really good but not sure how far to drive. If you can't find ask me again.

There is some brewery that has 4 locations throughout Pitt and one of them is a tap house in Monroeville. I had my eye on that place back when I thought there would be no Hawks game at all. I will do some research on this daves place.

The amount of players and national media type tweeting about that call is telling.

My best guess is he got caught watching the scrum, blew his whistle to call a penalty on Detroit until he realized that #4 was about to howitzer the should be series winner past Howard and thus called matching minors to save face.

Bad call in a huge spot that thankfully becomes a forgotten about footnote.

Everything I have read and heard aside from Eddie O agrees about the call. I am sick of Eddie and his pandering garbage. He must be looking for a move to a front office or something. Night after night he tells us how great the Comcast crew is, when regular viewers know that is one of the worst sports productions on cable. They consistently have poor audio, miss putting up the power play timers, or have inaccurate graphics during baseball games (balls/strikes). For him to defend that call was a mockery. Even Pierre said it was a bad call.

I guess you could maybe see how the ref made the call but I don't know how the fuck anyone can remotely say that Saad gets a penalty on that too. Olczyk is probably too conscious of being a homer but to not say that the matching minor on Saad was an absolute horrendous call is really pussying out . If he's on with Mac today I hope Mac calls him on that or a listener calls in and asks him why he thinks Saad should've gotten the minor too.
