I'd imagine there are bands that play the music of the Beatles far more accurately than the Beatles ever did live themselves.

Rare indeed is the band that performs their libraries 100% accurate to the record...

The problem is not that they are a cover band. It's that they claim they are better than a cover band and actually "become" the artist.

I don't think artists generally mind when their work is being covered, but when you get these "Tribute" bands out there that are just pretending to be The Beatles, or whoever, I don't think they like that. Those types of bands are just riding the coattails of a successful act, and cashing in on the name.

When the Beatles first started doing shows, their shows consisted of covers. Name ANY band you like, they all did it.

I don't think these guys think they're "as good as" or "better" than the artists they're covering, I think that's something you're projecting on them out of your dislike for Matt...

They're a cover band that plays small shows and supposedly isn't bad.

Playing covers is not the same as advertising yourself as the act that wrote and made the music famous.

Bob's cover band that plays the corner tavern is not the same as Tributsaurus or American English

I didn't say they were better at "being" the Beatles. My point is there are bands that perform the music more accurately than the Beatles. Most "original" bands tend to change their own compositions as they evolve as musicians, while tribute/cover bands usually try to keep true to the original recorded versions of songs because their audiences expect to hear the songs how they know them...

They play some nice shows for very decent crowds. Nothing to sneeze at, IMO...

I think bands like U2 and the Beatles see Elevation and American English as the sincerest form of flattery

I don't think you know what the word "become" means.

I think I'd be a little more forgiving if they weren't putting down "cover bands" when that is really what they are. I would guess that no person has ever closed there eyes at a show and got confused if they were at a Beatles concert or a Tributosaurus one.

Interesting the choice of bands they become just looking at the fb page.
Kinks, Cheap Trick, Beatles, Neil Young.....
all had/have very skinny lead singers.
If they were REALLY authentic, you'd think they'd become Blues traveller, Mamas & papas, Meat Loaf, Tad, etc.

For the life of me I cannot understand why anyone would want to listen to or even worse pay money to a tribute band. Nothing is ever like the original. Just listen to the original. Why would someone want to hear Meatpants try to be Prince or Queen or the Who? Just makes no fucking sense to me.

Tribute bands are fun and the price isn't anything outrageous. I'm not sure what Tributasaurus is charging but I imagine it is pocket change. Go and have a few drinks while enjoying music that you like. People fall all over themselves for the faux experience at places like Disney.
