Mac,
Welcome back from the penalty box. Obviously you can not predict the future and maybe you can not speak for the other two members of your on-air team. But, do you see MJH living on past your current deal with ESPN? Do all three members of the teams deals run concurrently? You have mentioned wanting to do satalite radio. Do you, Jurko, and Harry ever talk about how long you want to do the show together? Or what are the chances that one of the members decides to move on at some point in the not-so distant future. I will log off and listen for my answer.

Mac,

Although you guys tend to avoid it, most radio hosts (especially Dan Patrick) are constantly discussing who should or shouldn't be in their respective Hall of Fame. I'm sure you and most everyone will agree that this is just bad radio. I have a 2 part question though on why hosts barrage us with this crap.

1. Why do they care so much, or act that way, about who is or is not in a hall of fame? Does it really matter? They're not a part of this exclusive club so why do they even care who's in it or waste air time discussing it. Especially when there are games going on right now that would be much more interesting to discuss.

2. If membership IS all that important to warrant so much discussion, why don't these hosts EVER spend any time reminiscing and reviewing the accomplishments of those who have already been inducted into the hall?

I think the answer to this is that's these hosts can't think of anything else to talk about, and because it's in the news, just go with it. Plus, it's been debated so many times, I think these hosts think it's interesting debate radio.

pete rose should be in the HOF. my feelings on that are, he didnt bet on any games when he played, and he would be going in as a player. keep him out of coaching or owning, etc. but put him and his 4100 hits in the hall.

Hawkeye your suggesting that the lead-in to their show is a reason the ratings maybe down? Your kiddin' right? Also concerning national topics; no they should not spend endless hours on the topics, but some of that stuff is compelling and I may want their take on it...for a reasonable amount of time.

Mac,

A few years back, maybe even at the Snore, when discussing Cal Ripken, Jr., you sort of eluded to something that portrayed him in a negative light, but you didn't really clarify.

Ripken's streak should have come to an end - but Orioles management made sure it didn't happen. His streak is therefore 'a fraud' imho.

Cal Ripken, Jr. was allowing Kevin Costner, the actor, to stay at his house, following the wrap of "The Postman". One day, Ripken left for Camden Yards to play in a game. Somewhere between his home and the stadium, Cal realized that he had left something back at his house, and turned back to retrieve it. Upon arriving at his home, he found Kevin Costner in bed with his wife, Kelly. Cal then proceeded to beat the crap out of Costner, to the point that Costner was unable to make any publicity opportunities for a time. Cal then called the Orioles, and told them he wouldn't be coming in to play that day. Upon hearing this, the owner reminded Cal about his streak, telling him The Streak would end if he didn't play that day. Cal told him it was impossible for him to come in, so there went the streak. Reportedly, the owner told him not to worry, because he would take care of it. That night, the game was cancelled due to "electrical failure" with some lights on the field. The caller said that their was no problem with the lights, that everything else, including the hotels and restaurants that are part of Camden Yards, worked perfectly. The next day, the lights were fixed, Cal was able to play, and the streak stayed intact.

Beef, I don't discount his record because of that. I'll overlook the chicanery. The story has a happy ending.
Costner got his ass whipped, which is just fine by me.

If this is true I don't discount the reccord either. He caught his wife baning another dude. Fucking Kevin Costner no less. Cal would have played had it been the mail man.

But he'll be damned if he's gonna play after his wife banged that no talent Costner.

The Orioles owner did right by Cal.

And to think, Cal stuck with the bitch and even gave her a flower today as he was being inducted.

No coincidence that Costner's career went to hell following this. Starting with that very movie Water World.

A real friend would have just had Costner taken out to sea and tossed overboard. Never to be seen again.

Mac,

Do you feel you let Harry and Jurko down by getting suspended again and what are you going to do to make sure it doesn’t happen again? You have said in the past that you were going to make changes to assure it doesnt happen again, what is going to be different this time? Thanks

That story is awesome. Too bad it isn't true.

Mac,

Is it inappropriate if, when I get a haircut, I like things to be "foo-foo" and "chichi"?

Generally speaking, I don't care about Halls of Fame, though there is no doubt that baseball has a more competitive entry process than most. But I think Bozeman Frank is onto something here, and would agree that Pete should go in if he were to issue a formal statement certifying that he had not bet on games as a player. He's an asshole, but so were lots of others (Cobb, Mantle, Dimaggio, in different ways).

Pete will get in, but he won't get to enjoy it. I don't think he'll get in until he passes away.
