Yeah I give up. I don't like it. Other people do. I don't want to ruin the board unity Matt Spiegel has wrought.

Never seen it, it looks weak. I have never seen everybody loves Raymond or king of queens n dozens of other popular bad shows.

The show is good most of the time, and great at other times, but the hype for it is pretty undeserved. I don't know why this show became the champion of "I liked this show, and it got cancelled after 3 seasons of failing to deliver enough interest, but it's so unfair because I liked it!". Plenty of good shows get cancelled because for whatever reason it's not good enough to get people to watch it or it just doesn't connect with the right audiences.

The Firefly and Veronica Mars people are far worse.

Because the people most aggrieved by its cancellation were educated, middle-class white people in their 20s and 30s, and that's a group of people who completely lose their collective shit anytime anything in the universe doesn't go exactly the way they want it to.

It's not an exact parallel because NBC's ratings are so bad across the board that it never got cancelled, but Community fans are the worst of all.

"firefly" at least got a really good movie out of it.

i don't know if there was a following for this, but "kindred: the embraced" was a pretty cool show and i was sad to see it get axed. same with "strange luck".

Ugh, yeah, Community people are the pits.

I think we might be forgetting just how next-level this show was in first-run, inasmuch as that was almost an entire decade ago (part of why I wasn't exactly champing at the bit for the revival). I mean, now we've had The Office, 30 Rock, My Name Is Earl, plus How I Met Your Mother and Modern Family for people who don't require that their progressive sitcoms be particularly funny. Everyone's doing highbrow+lowbrow serialized comedy, preferably with single handheld and no laughtrack. I can see where you'd watch it for the first time now and be like "what's the big deal," but I can tell you that when I discovered the show midway through the second season and subsequently had to buy the first season on DVD and watch it in two sittings, that it was pretty amazing.

All that being said, I knew it wasn't going to last forever, and enjoyed it while I could with that in mind. I'll get around to watching the new episodes when I can devote the proper time and space to them (life's been kinda hectic lately), but this isn't anything I begged for.

Nothing. Just sayin' is all. I fit every one of those descriptors, and I do, in fact, enjoy Arrested Development. I'm proud to say I didn't formally protest its cancellation or demand its return though.
