Will Mike Brown and Adam Archuleta stay healthy or will we have to see Chris Harris or Danielle Manning? With those guys on the field I think the Bears have one of the best secondaries in the NFL.

Even if healthy, I really doubt that you'll see both on the field at the same time much. Neither is great in coverage- they are duplicative players, not complementary ones. Either Manning or Harris will have to step up- more likely Manning, but I'm not overly hopeful about either. The FS position is the weak link on this defense.

I'm not worried about the QB situation much anymore, because I think we will finally see Rex get pulled if he has a few bad games in a row. The problem that I had with last year(and I'm on record as so) was that we didn't know if Griese was a better option. He was never given a chance to show if he was better. With better QB play, we may have won the Super Bowl last year but we probably still would have lost.

This year, if Rex struggles, Griese will be given a chance. If he doesn't work out, then Rex gets another shot with no harm done. If Rex can't handle a QB competition this year, then he's never going to be a good QB for us.

I'm more worried about Cedric Benson than anything.

Nas,
You seem to know a lot about Griese and how good he is right now. I haven't seen him play enough meaningful snaps with the Bears to know. I don't really want to argue with you for another 4 months on this topic and I'm rooting for Rex Grossman to have a great season and the Bears to win the Super Bowl but I just find it crazy that you are so easily able to say that Rex is going to have a Pro Bowl year(30 td's, under 15 int's would do it) but that Griese is definitely not a good QB.

I do share your sentiment with Orton, and I'm hoping that he is ready to take over the #2 spot with the idea that he can challenge somewhere for a #1 spot somewhere in the league next year.

I'm not buying it Nas. Lovie would not have given Griese his first start for the first game of the playoffs. The QB decision was decided in St. Louis last year. Griese would have needed at least one start in the regular season to get into rhythm in my opinion.

As I said, it's too early to talk about this, and hopefully it's not needed. I'm not rooting against Rex, but this is his last chance to impress me. He's been given more chances than most NFL QB's get.

When? He had 3300 yards and 24 touchdowns. The most any Bear quarterback(in over 10 years) and Griese ever had. He did it with mediocre receivers. I'll leave it alone until the first preseason game.

He was handed the starting job with no competition for 4 years now. That is what I meant. I know injuries have plagued him but he was a late first round pick and he's been handed the starting job for every year but his rookie year.

Kyle Boller was drafted 3 spots ahead of him and has had competition almost every year for his starting spot.

Anyways, it doesn't matter as the start of the season brings new hope, but Rex Grossman has been given every opportunity to succeed for his whole career. It's time to deliver.

While I don't have much of a problem with Rex because I've seen much worse and the Bears have had much worse...I know I don't need to list them... I have a problem with saying that his stats (3300 yards and 24 TDs) indicate how good he is. I think most average QBs would have had the same or better #s with the offensive line and running game that the Bears had last year...not to mention the defense. Rex's #s last year simply show how bad the QBs have been the past decade or more rather than how good he is. Hopefully he can put up around 35 TDs this year and this argument will be over...yeah right, sure it will
