I'll admit it's a simplistic way of looking at things, but I tend to fall in line with that kind of thinking currently. I do believe we'd have a Heat-OKC rematch if Westbrook didn't get hurt. I also think the Bulls wouldn't be able to beat the Heat or OKC this year with a healthy roster.

Disagree. I don't the Heat beat the Bulls with a healthy roster. Don't think the Thunder beat the Spurs even with Westbrook. They miss would have needed Harden.

Eh...no thanks.

JR Smith, OJ Mayo and Monta Ellis all have player options they can opt out of.
No, YES, and YES if they opt out

Let's start the LBJ-Durant thing in 2010 since that's when LBJ went to Miami for an easy ride to dominance.

Since that time, we've got three LBJ Finals, and I believe he'll be 2-1 after this series is over. If OKC stays healthy, and as long as KD and Westbrook are together, then who do you see challenging them in the West? The Spurs started last year's playoffs 10-0 before losing four straight to OKC. I think OKC would have eliminated them again this year.

yes. I happen to like both George Hill and DJ Augustine. They can play the Bulls game and beat them at it. I think Paul George can guard Derrick. Doesn't matter as the Bulls don't want to contend next season anyway.

I guess we'll have to wait till next year to find out. OKC did just fine in the regular season without Harden by finishing second overall. Second to the Heat, by the way.

Im starting with the Year the Heat lost to the Mavs. I dont know why i had an extra year. My mistake.

Im not sure what would have happened in the Spurs OKC series, but I think OKC was better with Harden the year before.

KS, thank you for laying all that out.

Your newest Bull for next year will be Randy Foye. That would be such a GarPax move.

Ive heard this many times, but I dont think its valid.

The team is a lot different two years later. Im not sure who would win, but to say "we've seen that" is not correct.

You're probably right.

I hate Paxson as a gm. If he didnt luck into Rose he'd be worse than his brother.

I think you're saying the Pacers can beat the Bulls in a playoff series, instead of finishing with a better record. I say this because I assume you don't believe the Bulls would have won only 48 games with a healthy roster, which is what would have to happen if you still think the Pacers would've finished ahead of them this year.

As for the playoffs, I still believe they're evenly matched. Noah plays Hibbert well, and George is good but it's not like he's an unstoppable, destructive force. At least not yet. I agree that the Bulls are not contenders next year.

Didn't San Antonio rest players down the stretch. Let me get this straight -minus Westbrook= big difference - Minus Rose/Deng very little difference. OKC is not winning anything unless they can get someone that is a threat to score on the low block. They were exposed and Durant was a little exposed also. Memphis dominated them and people forget that Memphis took them to seven games a few years ago though they were without either Gay or Randolph. Can't remember which one missed that series. OKC is good but hardly insurmountable.

Yes, SA did rest the big three down the stretch, you're right about that. But my point was that OKC absorbed the loss of Harden just fine. They are still a force in the West.

OKC and Miami are both perimeter oriented teams, so I don't know if low-post scoring matters much for OKC. Durant is a do-it-all scorer anyway, and he is the reason why I think they're a favorite over every other team in the West. Memphis plays them well, but in the end they lack the starpower that makes a a difference in playoff basketball. I think the well-coached team with the most talent usually makes the Finals. OKC has the most talent, and I presume they have a sufficiently good coach based on their performance the past 2-3 years.

Miami is not the same team and neither is this year's Bulls team. Butler is a significant upgrade over Bogans. Nate/Heinrich better than C.J. Watson and Bellineli I would rather have than Korver. The only dropoff is Asik and didn't get hurt during the playoffs that year. It was just yesterday that people were talking about this Miami team being similar to the Cleveland team that Lebron just left. Wade is no longer a top five player as he was that year. And Bosh is not even a top 20 or 30 player.

Maybe its the meatball side of me, but I don't think this Pacers team could of beaten the Bulls if Rose and Deng were healthy.

The Bulls series against the Heat was closer than remembered. Each game came down to the wire and Miami is a worst team this year. Bernstein's entire argument is based around the star players. If Wade and Bosh are no longer considered stars then Miami is a worst team. When is the OKC chicken going to come to roost. It is funny how people dismiss the Rose injury but not Westbrook. The Bulls had two all stars this year and won 45 games without Rose. They are a better team than Bernstein and some on this board give them credit. They are not in NBA hell and most on the national stage seem to think so also. I forgot the all knowing god Bernstein dismisses them (booyah network) He prefers to get his information from bloggers and non descript .com writers.

Paul George is a very good young player but Bernstein is elevating him to a platform he hasn't reached yet. He's still incredibly raw on the offensive end, he's not a dynamic scorer by any stretch of the imagination. His ball handling and mid range game need work and he needs to have much better shot selection. West is good, but he's old and on the downside and Hibbert is only a decent player who was able to dominate a team with no big men whatsoever. The Pacers are a good team but they're not as scary as Bernstein makes them out to be.

Agreed. I said similar things about West above, and George is not unstoppable, although I admit he may give Rose problems when George is guarding him.

So this is all academic about Bulls-Heat 2011, but I don't think the series was close at all. Losing 1-4, including 4 in a row, is not close. The only game decided by five or less points was the elimination game. Including that game, the Heat outscored the Bulls by 32 in four wins. (http://espn.go.com/nba/playoffs/2011/ma ... heat-bulls) But yes, both teams are different in 2013.

I don't think anyone is disputing that the Bulls could have been good with Rose, the question is are they good enough to get past Miami and make the Finals. Many on this board do think they can do that with a healthy squad. For now, I am going to differ because I don't think the Bulls have an adequate combination of self-reliant scorers.

Isn't Mirotic due to be a Bull next season? Doesn't he have some of the most impressive credentials ever amassed by a Eurpoean player?

Maybe it's just me, but the Michael Douglas/Liberace "the size of a door" drop is far more entertaining if you hear it as Jack Nicholson just doing a fruity voice as a joke.

Mirotic is due to be a Bull as early as the 2014-15 season, but seems more likely to arrive for the 2015-16 season.

He is probably the most highly touted player in all of Europe at the moment.

And we'll have the Charlotte pick

Bulls title in 2016-17
