I will take your expert word for it, but how do we know this for sure?

Wasn't it a Bob in Park Ridge who openly wept on W&S over the way Derrick Rose was treated 3-4 years ago? That the guy you're talking about, BF?

i listened to friday's "review" and I'm on the fence, it's kind of funny at times, but more often than not I feel sorry for bob because he appears to be an old guy living in a home, with possible dementia.... which is nothing to laugh at... sometimes it seems like bob has no idea where he is, other times he's talking about some of the new movies out that he wants to see.

Has anyone sent bernstein a message voicing concern over this? I didnt see any twitter messages posted.

at least with mike in milwaukee, you have an idea he's just a retired person who drinks a lot so I feel ok laughing at him (you know.... blackhawks)

- Clearly different voices

- This Bob has never mentioned being a retired mailman

- This Bob has never mentioned having any prior history of calling the Score

I thought Bob Heiden died? Could have sworn I heard Murph say that years ago.

It almost sounds like performance art, now, when Dan gleefully starts rubbing the mic against his crotch while talking about how he would "actually pay real money" to get Bob to watch "Behind The Candelabra" and review it for them. As Bill Burr might say, oooooooooooohhhhh Jeeeezus.

Unless this is 100% a bit, they should be ashamed of themselves. I just can't believe that they have produced intros/teasers for this "bit", and how much they talk about him even when he's not on the phone "hilariously" wondering where Mike North is or when Adam Dunn is going to start hitting. The ONLY decent part of of this whole mess, for me at least, is that Dan and Terry are now mandated to let a caller actually talk....granted it's painful as he talks about the associate pastor leaving, and how much he loves her and is going to take her to lunch, but hot damn it's nice to not hear pained sighs as a caller tries to stumble to a point all while being shotgunned or hung up on/yelled at.

I'm surprised this has gone on as long as it has - I don't know if the mocking Sports Minutes by drinky were finally squashed by mgt, or if he just tired of writing crappy copy, but man I wish someone would step in and tell these guys to stop.

Stop, or step the fuck up. When running a successful hotdog stand, you don't switch out to cheaper hotdogs or less than fresh condiments just because business is booming. But that is what this show seems to be doing. Its become somewhat tasteless and mostly lazy, as they vacillate between being boobs and delivering the most important radio in sports media. They go from the bigotted blasting of Christians for not embracing homosexuality, and then can't help but snicker about the sexuality of Liberace. Dan feigns ingorance of the era while Terry would love to go back to his old double entendre self.

The problem with this show is that having used CTE, PSU, Livestrong, and Jason Collins to cudgel the fun out of what they do, they're stuck with emphasizing a bit (BfPR) that is at best cringe inducing beyond its limited novel impact.

hotdogs huh.... well maybe mike north knows

other than hockey, there isnt anything worth discussing in chicago sports right now.... still 1.5 months from training camp, white sox baseball is just dreadful, the cubs building for the future discussion is just tiring to listen to 1.5 years in to theo era... listening to them talk hockey is just painful because they know less than most bandwagon fans know.

Even if they were hockey mavens it would still be painful for me. I haven't listened to any sports radio in about three weeks because it's been all hockey talk on both stations.

It was hard to tell the mock Sports Minutes from drinky's usual stumbling over copy.

Hey guys. I didn't have nuthin to do the other day so I went to the Park Ridge Library and checked out Crime and Punishment by this Russian guy. I think he was a cosmonaut or something. I kinda related to Raskolnikov. We're both misunderstood guys living amongst urban societal decay. Hey, do you guys know if any Russkies ever played fer da Sox? I dunno. It might rain today so I have to find my galoshes. I give the book a 624 on my scale of rating books. The library was closed when I took the book back. So i just laid down on the sidewalk for awhile. I'll talk to youse later.

i'm surprised no one has commented in the thread about Friday's call from Bob.... poor bastard has no idea where he is.... combine that with the fact he claims he is 67 and it's really not funny anymore... if that were my relative I would be pretty pissed

It's embarassing, and I don't think there's too much else to say about it .. is why no one is commenting. These two continuing to giggle like school girls while an addled old man tries to make his way through a conversation ON THE AIR...well, rich and compelling stuff, fellas.

Hopefully this last "hilarious" appearance by Bob (where Dan kept on hammering that they need him to escape his home to come be mocked in person) will be one of his last. Maybe THEY finally heard what we hear, and realize they've gone too far (what with the produced intro, making him a featured, weekly freak etc)?

It's sad that no one has stepped up to tell these guys to stop it - drinky has become an absolute tool of late, Tannehill is too busy actually coming up with decent content, and Dan and Terry are too pre-occupied getting ready to explode about the latest "controversy" to realize how douchey they sound revelling in the confusion of an old man. I can only assume that they're nothing if not bummed that Annie in Riverdale is long gone, as she'd have at least a weekly spot on their parade of bad taste.

The whole thing started with him calling them in 2009 to remind them to change their clocks for daylight savings. It became a bi-annual call every time the DST hour shift happened. From there, he would begin calling periodically with opinions on sports. Nobody put a phone in the guy's hand and made him call. He's a grown assed man. If he didn't want to be subjected to...whatever the segment is supposed to be, he shouldn't call. The guy is 67 years old. I'm sure he's survived more in his lifetime than the wrath of the eeeeevil Dan and Terry.

This is just another example of Jason Goff's absence making the segment seem mean-spirited because Dan, Terry, and Matty can't pull off lightheartedness successfully.

Either way, it's still better than Bernstein telling his audience how to feel and how to live, so any reprieve from that shit is welcome in my book.

I've changed my stance on this. Bob is alright with me. Just another guy who likes to drink during daylight. So long as he's at home, well, more power to him.

The joke is on B&B. Brutally bad fucking radio. They capitulate whatever moral high ground they believe they hold. Engage a drunk, the joke is on you.

So...right out of the gate they knew he was mentally impaired but put him on the radio anyway because they thought it would be funny? Classy. That makes the whole "bit" worse IMO.

Bob would like to turn back time so he can listen to Dick Biondi instead of Boers and Bernstein.

These two fucks are just not nice people. I guess buying Bob a burger and fries clears their conscience, and helps them forget that they're making fun of a poor old soul. Hey One Step? Is this the kind of behavior you condone from one of your biggest mouthpieces?

That's part of why I like the segment. By the way, Bob pretty much said "not interested" to a remote invite, and said he'd rather listen to Dick Biondi. He's a sly devil.
