The new NBC drama series.

The Score just ran a promo saying NBC is replaying the debut today. Episode 2 airs tomorrow. It's gotten good reviews. Silence of the Lambs is one of my all time favorite movies. So I'm gonna DVR this series. I'll give it 3 episodes to determine if it sucks or not.

I guess this series is about the young Hannibal Lector.

it took me 15 minutes of the pilot to realize it sucked. cookie cutter crime drama with a "mentalist" like criminal profiler and pseudointellectual psychobabble from hannibal lector, and stupid sight gags to make you think certain people are eating "people".

it's lame, and boring. not as offensively stupid as "bates motel" but just about as eager to be.

Did you make it to the part where he goes home with a rescued dog and there are all the other dogs? I have all the eps on dvr (and i LOVE The Mentalist  ) but I can't go any further unless somebody can reassure me that nothing happens to the dogs. I know, it's about a serial killer cannibal, and I can't watch it if something bad is going to happen to the dogs!

This is almost half way into the pilot, and I immediately stopped my dvr.

Nothing has happened to the dogs thus far.

It's really not that bad of a show.

Good show.

Mads Mickleson is stellar as Hannibal, Fishbourne is good and Hugh Dancy is solid as Will Graham.

The first episode or two just establish Graham, Lector and Crawford and their arcs, after that it gets into a "crime of the week" thing but with a heavier emphasis on the relationships between the main characters and their development, that's the best part of the show.

Solid show. Although I completely understand how it could be beyond some people, it isn't super crazy intellectual but you do need more than a brain cell or two to follow along. Might be tough for some.

Plus it was re-upped for a 2nd season.

Agreed, boyd and SomeGuy, it's a good show. There do seem to be an excessive amount of gruesome murders and serial killers in the area in which the show takes place, and it seems to be taking a tad long for people to connect the dots and look more closely at Hannibal ("Hey, I wonder if the cold, calculating, kinda creepy guy with the surgical background has anything to do with these murders that involve people being carved up and their organs removed with surgical precision?"), but overall I like it.

It's shot really well, too.

Even though they air a disclaimer at the beginning I'm surprised at how graphic it is for network TV.

I enjoy it.

However, the last episode where Eddie Izzard took out that dude's organs while he was awake creeped me the fuck out.
