Looking forward to a nice day tomorrow and a round with shakes and Hawg Ass. Unfortunately
Furious had to back out due to an injury. Currently one spot open if anyone is interested in a
10 am tee time in Zion, IL. I have a few messages to friends but no responses yet.

Edit -- found a fourth to fill out the group

Going to Water's Edge at 6:48 tomorrow. One of the earlier tee times I've had. I'll probably get to the course around 6 to hit a few balls and putt. I'm not real crazy about that course, but for $45 it should be OK. Being out that early we should get in a 3.5-4 hour round and if we don't, I will be saying something to the pro shop after the round.

I played there last summer and was out there almost 6 fucking hours. It was free and we had some beer in our bags so it was fun, but goddam that placed gets backed the fuck up if you aren't off the tee by 9am.

Do they overbook, or was everybody in front of you crazy slow? I won't go back to any place that overbooks, like Villa Olivia in Bartlett does.

I think its a little of both. Generally this course is talked up and has a greens fee like its one of the best courses in Chicago. Its not...not even close. I don't mind paying $60 or $70, but the course should be kept up like a $60 course should be, and I should be able to finish in under 5 hours.

You should really consider going somewhere else. Waters Edge is the biggest shithole I played all last year. the place used to be nice before the economy collapsed in 2008. Since then they have lost funding, got rid of all the GPS in the carts, got rid of the nice service they used to have, don't take care of the greens, fairways, tee boxes or driving range. And to top it off, $45 is a RIP OFF. You can find it for way less than that on Golfnow.

Honestly I wouldn't play that course for free, but if I had to pay I wouldn't step foot on there for more than $25. Total dogtrack.

yeah, I hear ya. Not a favorite of mine, but we'll see. I didn't play it at all last year and 2 years ago when I did it was in fairly decent shape, just way too long a round.

40-46-80 at Highland Park Country Club today. Played great on the front, was 1 over after 7 and then promptly tripled 8 after losing my drive to the right. On the back I decided to give my new 3wood a try and lost 3 shots with it. Had a few other bad shots on the back, didn't play well on the back.

The greens were really slow, I'm definitely nervous to putt tomorrow at Shepard's Crook after facing only offspeed stuff today.

Debating whether or not to even bring the new 3 wood, might just put the old one back in the bag. I have a few weeks where I can still return the 3wood to Golfsmith, definitley going to do that next week.

Had a really nice time golfing with Hawger and shakes as well as my buddy Mark. We probably could
switch up teams a little bit next time. Mark played way better than I expected he would. The course was
in good shape and we had one cart and two walkers and played in just over 4 hours. Never had to wait
on anyone ahead and no one within a hole behind. The weather was beautiful. Greens were about what
I expected, they may be some of the most undulating in the Chicagoland area. Not obscenely fast but
enough to make you pretty damn nervous and they held really nice. I think everyone had a good time
and I look forward to playing again. Shepherds Crook is a good value for the dollar in my opinion.

Yep, my 7 3putts will attest to how tough those greens were. Had a great time, great course, great group of guys. Tbone and Hawg can really play, I think tbone shot around a 75 and Hawg was at an 82 I think despite both of them not playing much this year. I shot a 43-48-91 with the aforementioned 7 3putts. Couldn't hit a fairway off the tee on the front and then couldn't miss the fairway on the back for the most part. I agree, teams should probably be switched, but I would like to think I won't score that bad again. I would guess me and Tbone would be pretty fair vs Hawg and Mark or Hawg and Furious when he gets his hand healed.

BTW, that was my first ever CSFMB meetup, Hawg and Tbone were gentle in breaking my cherry.

Glad to hear everything went well. That weather had to be perfect - especially for a walking round. Got to be honest, still pretty pissed I can't play. Looked at the clock about 9am and thought to myself, "I'd just be getting to the course about now."

I then put my clubs and shag bag in the closet for the foreseeable future. Hopefully out of sight/mind.

Good times yesterday, and a great golf course. 2 doubles a triple and 3 three putts will always do a scorecard in. T-bone and Shakes, anytime you guys want to get together for a round and I am free, I am in. Good seeing you again T-bone and nice to meet you Shakes. He's not nearly as bad as you would think. :D

Played Woodruff with Papa Ugie on Saturday and Woodbine on Sunday. Shot 85, 84 respectively.

Big difference from the over-90 debacle I recorded at Settler's Hill with Chus a couple weeks ago. I'm still licking my wounds.

98 at Water's Edge. 53 on the front was pretty poor, but rebounded with a 45 on the back 9. Think I hit 2 fairways with my driver. Was not a good day for that club. Sunk about 150' worth of putts to really save my score.

Course was in just OK shape. Beat up tee boxes, ball marks on greens, no water jugs on the course. Fairways were in pretty good shape overall. Some divots, but nothing too bad. The rough was very hard to hit out of, which kept it challenging. Greens were slow then got ultra quick as the day warmed up. The staff was pretty dismissive when I brought the issues to their attention. I will not be going back there unless its twilight or I've found an online deal.

It was your first time on that track, and the pins were ridiculous. They were either tucked into a corner, or on a slope. It was almost unfair.

I'm going tomorrow afternoon with my uncle. Hopefully, the last 8 holes are not a disaster like last time.

I have a 7:53 tee time at a local course I haven't played for a number of years. Used to play this
place in a golf league with my then wife. Course is only about 6400 yards but I remember it
having a lot of tight driving areas and pretty tough greens. Looks like pretty good chance of
rain but should beat the thunderstorms they are calling for around midday. I am playing even
if it is raining. If it is pouring or lightning than I throw in the towel.

Also found out the county open is going to be held up here July 12-14. For $100 you get three
rounds at three different courses. I haven't played in it for a few years so think I am going to
get signed up in the next week or so.

41-44 this AM at Coyote Run. Excellent first 14 holes. Last 4 holes went bogey, triple bog, bogey, bogey so I probably should have been low 80's. Best round I have ever played. I was quite happy.

Had a lesson friday, trying to figure out why I keep hitting fat iron shots and also why I was drawing so many irons. My fixed me in about an hour of work. Changed two things in my swing that really helped. Went out and played Lost Marsh in Hammond Saturday and played poorly on a very difficult course. Ended up with 46-47-93.

Then, last night it dawned on me that I totally forgot to incorporate one of the two things I learned in my lesson. So, this morning really tough to get a tee time so we ended up at Carriage Greens which is a shithole. Paid full fare ($79) for a course that shouldn't cost more than $40. Worst greens I've ever putted on. Probably haven't been mowed in a month at least. They were like plush carpets. Pretty much impossible to putt with any precision. But, played great. Had one bad drive the entire day, every other drive was straight as an arrow. Totally fucked up the par 3s, played them 7 over including a triple bogey with 3 sand shots and a double. Ended up with 41-46-87, but struck the ball great.

Next up is my jewlympics training camp this weekend in South Bend and a friday round of golf at SB Country Club. Hoping to get a round in Sunday as well after our game in the morning before heading home.

Managed to put together an 82 this weekend at the tight little course mentioned earlier. I made
the mistake of taking a half day Friday and doing a fairly strenuous landscaping project so I was
pretty damn sore trying to play. There was a pretty steady rain for the first 13 holes or so which
didn't help either. Considering I had 4 double bogeys I will try to learn something from it and move
on. I have an invite to play a private club near Lake Geneva a week from today so I need to get
the game sharpened by then. Supposed to be a really nice and tough track.

Shot 80 at Glendale Lakes after bogeys on the final two holes. Handicap is finally back below 10.

Screw it, I'm going golfing :D (Oak Meadows). Too nice out and tomorrow the weather is supposed to take a negative turn. Got a gift card to play Macray yesterday for Fathers day. I had mentioned someone said on the board that it was a real nice course, but challenging as well....and I guess the comment was filed away for Fathers day. Gonna save that for another day though. See ya...

How I wish I could have played more than 9 holes...I was just 1 over on the front 9 at Oak Meadows. But we have to meet my In-Laws for dinner tonight, to celebrate Fathers day a day late, as they were out of town until this afternoon. On in regulation on 7 of 9 holes.

maybe the site of a future CSFMB meetup? I said I would never play it again, but I might be persuaded. Last year I wasn't that far removed from spine surgery #7 when I played it and it was a brutal 8 mile uphill walk. Maybe in a year I might feel up to it again.

It says in the article, but I believe it will become the destination spot for the U.S. Open in the Midwest, it is absolutely incredible. Plus it is only 25 minutes from my house!! :D

I've not been to a PGA event. Part of me would really like to go, but part of me wouldn't enjoy seeing the same shots over and over, or fighting/straining to see the group I'm following. I would go to a practice round in a heartbeat though.

I would like to play it again. I got out there shortly after its opening and I know they have done some significant
redesigns to it. Anyone getting out to golf this weekend?
