That blast by Soriano was crushed, but the wind held it in. Nice job by Rizzo to advance to 2nd on the play.

Travis Wood with yet another quality start so far. People talk about the Cubs not having an Ace in their rotation, but this guy sure has pitched like one all year. With Wood, Samardzjia, Feldman and Garza (if they keep him) they have a pretty decent rotation. Too bad they signed the steaming pile of monkey spunk AKA Edwin Jackson. 5 shutout IP thus far for Wood with just 2 hits for the Pirates.

Warning track blast just like Adam Dunn last night.

Wood did well to get out with just 1 run scoring. But it sure looked like Sanchez could/should have been called out on strikes that was called ball 4 and allowed Martin to bat (and knock in the run) in the 6th. Still 6 good IP and 1 run another quality start for Wood. Now it's time to get him a couple runs.

Good inning for Marmol. Surprised to see him in a 1 run game anymore. But he looked sharp in striking out Neil Walker and getting Snyder....Liriano didn't seem too interested in swinging the bat in his strikeout.

Hang a star on that play by Sweeney. Important to keep the pirates from scoring anymore and if Sweeney doesn't make that play, that run scores on Murcers double. Villanueva not fooling anyone so far.

Walks the 1st hitter (with the wind blowing in a gale) and gets behind 3-1 to the following hitter, who then smokes a line drive to right....not good. Villanueva was much better as a starter in the beginning of the season. He got out of trouble in the 8th, gotta hope he can do it again.

That about does it. The Pirate bullpen is a good one. With the wind blowing in as it is, a rally is even less likely.
