Guys, can you take that stuff to the game thread? Don't dilute my pissing and moaning here.

Even Bryce Harper didn't get pushed this fast. In the season AFTER he was drafted he started in low A, played half a season and raked. Then they gave him the accelerated push.....and he is the phenom.

Tyler Flowers fucking sucks. He can't hit and apparently can't field either. This play and all of the past balls are inexcusable. Hahn's biggest mistake so far this year has been letting AJ go. Its one thing if they would have lost out on a bidding war, but they didn't even make him an offer.

This is completely anectodal and second hand newsy but I thought Flowers was better defensively than AJ. I mean, how can you be worse defensively than AJ was?

Yeah he didn't get pushed at all. It's common for players to make to the major leagues at 19.

Oh shit I saw this at the top and figured it was the game thread. That's what a bottle of wine and a few beers will do. It's really the only way I can watch this team. :drunken:

Any discussion with you is fucking pointless. You pick whatever point you want and ignore everything anyone else says.

Is there another point you were trying to make because the one about Bryce Harper not being pushed is ridiculous.

Funny how you don't hold to that logic when talking about Cubs prospects.

But I understand you gotta have an excuse lined up.

I know he was pushed extremely fast but I was pointing out that from the day Hawkins was drafted up till say today....take that exact same time frame for Harper and Hawkins has been pushed further. He played the first half of the season after he was drafted in Low A. Hawkins started the first season after he was drafted in High A. Harper then got rocketed up to AA but that is not the point I was making.

Hawkins was able to play right after being drafted because MLB moved up the deadline to sign drafted players. He signed in June and went straight to rookie ball while Harper signed in August and sat out until the fall league.

I don't think they're doing any damage by having him in high A. He's taking his lumps but by all accounts he has an excellent attitude and he has plenty of time to figure it out.

If Viciedo was on the Cubs he'd be signing a 40 million contract by the end of the week with everyone calling it a great deal. He'll be lucky not to be booed at the next homestand as a Sox.

Dillusional

He's had as much major league success as Beckham did when Sox fans didnt want to trade him for Prince Fielder

He hit 25 HRs last year. He is likely to hit at least that many this year. That's more than Beckham has done with the bat.

A lot of bad trolling in this post. I'm sure almost everything about this post is terrible. Woof.

I found this article on Hawkins. There's some hyperbole, some scout-speak... but nothing seems out of line for how any toolsy prospect gets written about.

The kid's what, 19? In a couple of years we'll probably now a lot more about him.

phegley is on phucking phire! .342 10 HR 1.100OPS.

B&B were making fun of Hawk for talking about phegley. I'm sure they were aware that he was a former 1st rounder who had to deal with some rare autoimmune disease.

Phegster in a slump, down to .333. JorDanks hitting well at .318, still struggling with Ks. Why is that goddam DeWayne Wise on the team and not Danks? He's got to have pictures of somebody. Eric Johnson down in AA is pitching well. He could be a back of the rotation guy at some point. Nobody else doing anything. Hawkins still hurt.

The AA Barons have the best record in their league, in first place by 5 games (as of Sunday)

So.....somebody is doing something right. There are some really good MLB prospects at the AA level all across baseball.

well, phegley's cooled off a bit, but Hawkins has been tearing it up since coming off the DL. .220 12HR 61K in 118 AB (8BB).
