Watching television isn't the same as being at a game.

No, it's actually better unless you have rich man tickets.

No.

Baseball and hockey are always better live. Football is better on TV. Watching basketball is rough from the 300 level.

No. Each is a different experience. As a Bears season ticket holder I get a lot of pleasure taking people to games who would otherwise never get a chance to go. It is a great way to spend time with family and friends. My dad loved going to his one game a year. From the upper bowl you get to see the plays develop, something you don't always get on TV. Nothing compares to attending playoff games. And the pregame tailgate is much better in the soldier field lots than it is in my driveway, as is the people-watching

I do understand why it is not for everyone. Traffic's a pain, tickets are not cheap, it takes all day, and inclement weather is not fun (although that can be mitigated by proper clothing and the Bears playing well).

Well, I guess it depends on what you're after. The NFL is a made-for-TV sport. I've never been to an NFL game, but I've seen plenty of college football live and watching on television is no substitute for being there, even if it is much easier to analyze the line play from your couch with multiple replay angles.[/quote]

Going to a college football game is more than the game. It is an event. I say this as a person who goes to at least one NAIA game each year. Watching it on TV really does the experience no justice. The game itself is also MUCH better in the stadium, at least for the big time games. There is nothing like the energy when sitting in a place like ND or Michigan.

I love going to NFL games but unlike college, the experience kind of gets wasted on me. It is hard to be a responsible adult and party on a Sunday.
