I'm Polish and I've never heard flathead before. Where'd that come from?

I was at a dinner last year at my GF's mom's house. Some dude kept saying "shine" this and "shine" that. Took me about 30 minutes to realize what he was saying. I had never heard that word before. Told my GF that I will never be having dinner with that dude again.

I had a client come in a few weeks ago and we got to talking about an incident he had in domestic court. He has a child out of wedlock with a girlfriend. They don't like each other and often throw verbal barbs at each other. They were in court for some agreement on the care of the child. They were trying to get a disposition of who would be the primary caregiver. Their case was one of a full call so the room was packed. It happened to be filled with a majority of African Americans.

No one was paying attention to anything that was going on as everyone was worried about their own cases. The two were arguing before the judge and the woman brought up that he was verbally abusive to her in front of the child. She mentioned that he called her, well you guessed it....said in full open court, loud enough for everyone to hear. He said he turned around and suddenly everyone's head had picked up and they were looking at him mumbling to themselves like the guy in Caddyshack after Smails gives him his shoes.

I couldn't help but laugh at the story. He is kind of a friend and I wasn't going to be working with him on that issue anyway.

I was watching a travel show the other day. The host was in Samoa. He was able to get an interview with the Queen. In the middle of the interview, out walks a son who was far down the list for inheritance. They made the guy live the life of a woman.

God Bless Americuh, where all our children are eligible to inherit our debt and ignorance and we are not forced into a life of pretending what we are not because social mores!
