At least Castro is 0-3 and down to .240. Junior Lake is back playing in AAA and hitting the ball well. Send one of the shitty relievers down and get him up to give Cassie a few days off. He's on the 40 man so its really just paperwork and plane tickets at this point. He's a butcher at short if he even is playing short anymore but fuck it..who cares.

Castro will be fine. He might benefit from a few days off or even a trip to AAA for a couple weeks. but he will be fine in the long run. He just needs to gain plate discipline to stop getting himself out on pitches out of the zone.

It seems like this team is entering " who gives a shit" mode. Once the draft ended its pretty much just watch the minor league box scores and wait.

Yeah garza has done nothing to change my mind about dumping his ass. I just hope he can string together 3-4 good starts and stay healthy so some team might be dumb enough to give the Cubs a decent prospect in a trade at the deadline.

wasn't sure where to put this and didn't think it deserved its own thread

Quote:
The Nationals announced that they have traded Henry Rodriguez to the Cubs in exchange for fellow right-hander Ian Dickson. The Nats designated Rodriguez for assignment last week in order to make room on the roster for Anthony Rendon.

Rodriguez, 26, has a 4.23 ERA with 9.3 K/9 and 6.1 BB/9 across parts of five big league seasons with the A's and Nats. He pitched 18 innings in relief for Washington this season, posting a 4.00 ERA with eleven strikeouts and 16 walks. While he has yet to find sustained success in the big leagues, Rodriguez has impressed with a 100 mph fastball in recent outings.

Dickson, 22, was taken in the 35th round of the 2011 draft by the Cubs. The youngster has a 6.88 ERA with 8.2 K/9 and 3.8 BB/9 in three starts and eight relief appearances for Chicago's Single-A affiliate this year.

Rodriguez is a fireballer who has had some success in SSS, maybe he will give the bleacher contingent reason to throw Oh Henry bars onto the field again. Decent low-risk move, I'm sure Theo and his laptops have done their research on this guy.

Reds have won 12 in a row at Wrigley.

Travis Wood is looking like a good pickup for the Cubs for Marshall. I'm glad he's doing well. I think the Reds were considering he or Leake in that trade.

Is Dave Sappelt still in the majors?

Marty Brenneman knows he is not liked by Cubs fans. He said he has spent the equivalent of one year of his life at Wrigley Field, more than any other ballpark in the majors.

Nice to get a win VS the Reds at home finally. Amazing they won as bad as Shark was. His last few starts have been less than inspiring. I am starting to think that they should listen to clubs that might inquire about him in a trade. He's not that young anymore and has not developed into a starter that can be consistently good. If he doesn't have good stuff on the day of a start, he lacks the ability to still give his team a good chance to win. Good starters (like Wood) can give their team a chance to win even when they don't have their best stuff. I would listen to offers.
