Who is this guy? Why does (seemingly) every email he sends in get read? Are they ever great? Why does Dan have to use his super serious, introspective, this-has-never-been-brought-up-before voice when he launches into the recital?

Also, these lengthy emails seem to arrive insanely quickly in relation to the whatever they are discussing.

Discuss.

I always wondered about this. Are they, and hosts in general I guess, sometimes guilty of the same crime Murph committed with his fake "number 1 fan" who always emailed but never called?

Wait what? Murph used to email the show as someone else? I have never heard this before but it sounds hilarious. Would love additional details.

Yeah, someone mentioned on the air not long ago. Maybe Drinky or someone else who produced the Murph show. Might even be on youtube.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, hayyyyyyyyyy, what's your beeeeeeeef?!?! Here's a Brown's Chicken gift certificate, you have just been dubbed today's CALLER. OF. THE. SHOW!!!!!

Between the "great" emails from Rudy, the "awesome and important" insight on DCFS issues from QCP and the "incredible" stats from Scott in Davenport....well, I just don't know how they fit it all in one bag. Such important stuff.

This flows with why the crap line is opened 45 minutes before the segment.

The emails give them the strawman needed to further the discussion. It allows the question to be asked, answered, and then confirmed. They can't be wrong because they won't allow dissent and when actual events prove them wrong they get to claim "a lot of people thought...."

The early opening of the crap line is also why the segment is too often brutally unlistenable.

Bill on Capitol Hill is the worst. He's sanctimonious and excessively verbose and tosses around historical references like he's some Classics scholar.

Omer/Amir/Ahmeer can go clean a taint as well.

I agree. The "Rudy" emailer just sucks. Unoriginal, Uninspired, the show was a piece of shit...

Bernstein probably just makes it up himself.

You should search this site via google (use site:score670.com in your search) and look for Cy Strezo's post about producing Murph... it was fantastic.

If you're actually "that" Rudy, here's to hoping you parlay your ridiculous emails into a low/non paying gig with the station and go away. I mean, your emails are really thoughtful and I wouldn't be surprised if you don't raise a few eyebrows from station management with them....good luck!

So I took your advice and went ahead and looked up Cy's posting history. Good times. One of his first posts is here sticking up for Murph on Aug 03 2006:

Cy wrote:
Since my name was brought up, I thought I would respond to these post. And to begin with I have no plans to shot anyone at the Score. Whether it is justified or not. I know many people have their opinions on Murph which is fine. I also realize that sometimes the means justifies the ends. I'm not saying that I dispise, dislike or have any sort of hatred towards Murph. I appreciate what Murph has done for me and have a great deal of gratitude for him. If not for Murph and a couple of other people I would probably be still hitting a button every 20 minutes like I was before Murph picked me to be his producer. So everytime an incident and trust me this wasn't even one that really bothered me (except for the fact that my family and friends might be listening) occurs, I think back to those nights.

My goal was never to be an overnight board op for Sporting News radio at the Score. It wasn't even my goal to be Murph's producer. My goal was to do a show on the Score. The radio station that when I was fourteen and it was only two days old I called into. I was the kid in the bus that took me from Dolton to De La Salle begging the bus driver to turn off B96 and put on the Score. The days when i was working a summer job painting and listening to the Monsters laughing my ass off (I swear the day before North asked Riley to shave his head was the funniest show I ever heard). The day I was driving and thinking of quitting College and hearing a caller call in to the Heavy Fuel Crew telling them that he was a couple years away from his broadcasting degree from Northern. When Mac told him to just go to School and get a job in the business, it was one of those Eureka moments. I realized that I really wanted to host a show at the Score. See I didn't get a job at the Score to work in the radio business, I got a job in radio to work at the Score.

With that being said it doesn't even begin to explain my time at the Score. And the determination that I have already had to endure to get to the point where I can almost see my dream becoming fulfilled. When I first got there I would have to say I was a pretty fast riser. I interned and become (I like to think at least) one of Fishman's main guys. I backed up two shows and worked constently on a part time basis. I'm not saying I was a great producer (I realize now that I probably sucked) but I could handle phones and the board. Trust me it isn't as easy as it sounds either. After getting getting passed over for a job I thought I was a lock for, i was given full time as overnight producer. Fish told me it wasnt permanant but once he left and two years later it sure seemed that way. I was told I wasn't good enough to even get an interview for producer jobs that were open. Hell I was even told I wasn't good enough to backup produce anymore. So whats a guy to do, well smoke alot of cigarettes and play Playstation all night. Not that I didn't work hard but there really wasn't much to do. I did what was required of me, showed up on time everyday and did it to the best of my abilities but I didn't see much of a future.

In that time I could have left or tried to get a job somewhere else but it just wouldn't have been the same as cracking the mic at the Score. So I went out and got a show on a Joliet station in which I still host at. When I realized that still didn't help me at all, I set my date to leave on June 1, 2005. A couple days before I was going to give my notice, Murph's evening show opened up. To say I was the favorite to get the job would be obsurd. You should have seen Andy's face when I asked him about it at a Bulls game. He had a looked that said Cy don't even think about getting your hopes up. But after two interviews I got the job and can honestly say that it was Murph who decided on me. My first day was May 31st. So for that I am grateful and appreciate the oppurtunity that Murph has given me. In less then a year I was working Middays. I also have learned alot from Murph about radio. The use of sound during a show, the prep that it takes to do a show everyday and most important to treat the callers with respect. My show puts every caller that can pass the screener on the air. In the rare case that we get backed up and don't have time, I try my best to make them realize that we feel bad they had to wait so long and not get to express their opinions. We also try our best to be caller friendly, in that we would prefer callers over guests. Something I remember being the focus on the 820 Score days.

I come into work everyday and give my best effort and think that I do a good job. I work three jobs and do what I have to do to get my dream accomplished. I also hope to make the show the best I possibly can. It was my idea to do the piece on the clinics and it wasn't even supposed to be what it turned out to be. I had planned to have Schuster just say that not to many people on the Cubs work extra to improve. We had no clue about the clinics. Same with the Scalping thing (who would have thought the Cubs ticket broker would be selling tickets at half off for a game they could have sold out before the season) and yes I thought both of those were good radio.

I write this not to defend Murph (although I do like Murph), I just wrote it to let people know that it would take alot more than Murph or anyone else at the Score to keep me from fulfilling my goals. I am just that determined and I know that when it happens I will kick ass on the air. Well I hope I don't get flamed for this but I just felt since my name was brought up I should comment.

Later on Sat Jan 17, 2009 Cy had this to say about Murph

Cy wrote:
He's the biggest CockFuck I ever meet.

Miss a little miss alot....

And here is Cy breaking bad on Murph

Cy wrote:
I would say it is a little bit of both, one i was being a team player and another is that maybe I wanted to believe that Murph was trying to help me. At that time I probably believed it but things can change and they did. For the most part, I was either naive or just flat out dumb but I thought Murph really tried to help me. It wasn't until about the last year that I was with him that I realized what a Cockfuck he was. (By the way that is a term I made up to describe a man that is a cock and dumbfuck at the same time). I remember asking Jay Goff to be nice and not play all those drops. I would also defend his ass when everyone was making fun of Murph.

That all changed four days after Easter in 2007. Our relationship before that wasn't great, but I never thought it was bad. I figured I did a good job and that it was appreciated at the very least, but Murph can't appreciate anything. The reason I know the date so well is b/c it happened on a Thursday with Stone in the Studio. I had also just came back to work after being off Thursday and Friday of the previous week. Easter was that Sunday. That Easter was a little different for me, as I spent it in the hosipital. On Wednesday before Easter, my father got Meningitis and we didn't know if he was going to make it. He did waking up on that Sunday but it was a pretty tough week for me none the less.

So Stoney is on for the first hour and I forgot to turn on his mic to start things. (Honestly I never was great at turning on mics) The interview finishes and Mitch comes in studio to ask Murph how the interview went. The talkback button was stuck, so I could hear their whole conversation and well it wasn't very flattering to me. Murph went on a bitch fest of how I didn't have Stoney's Mic on for the first segment. The man talked shit about me for about 3 minutes and nothing else. How I was doing a bad job, didn't pay attention and blah blah blah.

I couldn't believe it and I just snapped. I waited to the show ended but didn't even bother listening to that bitch. I did nothing for the last hour and even had my head down like I was sleeping. A few days earlier, he played all concerned about my father and then when he thinks Im not listening he is telling my boss how bad I am at my job. Fuck him. He tried to be nice as I was leaving and said "Hey Cy, what we got going on tommorrow" I told him he would figure it out and how he shouldn't trash people with the mic on. Then I heard him say something and I went back at him, but Murph didn't say nothing and I went home. From that point on I felt that Murph was a Cockfuck.

Needless to say, I worked with Murph until January 2008 and not once did he offer any kind words about my father. Nothing when he knew damn well what my family was going through. Instead he did everything to get me off his show. So screw him, he's a Cockfuck.

As far as being a team player at the Score, I really hated myself for being that guy. My only motivation was that I really wanted to be on the air at the Score, so I would do anything for that goal. That meant saying things that I thought Mitch and Paul would like to hear. Sorry about that and as you can see I dont give damn anymore.

And lastly....

Cy wrote:
This is hilarious because I have actually dealt with Murph when he comes up with these great nuggets. I didn't hear the show today or ever since I've been gone but I can only imagine. It is hell because you want to tell him how dumb he is but unfortunately you really can't.

Here is what he does, he finds some obscure soundbite that might relate to his crappy thoughts. He will listen to it for a couple of times and then tell you what his Big Topic is. Whispering because he is afraid someone might steal his Great Idea. The whole time you are just wishing this creepy man would leave you alone, but unfortunately he doesn't. The whole time he uses idiot logic to try and prove his point that Quinton should bat leadoff or whatever garbage he thinks up to cover for his complete lack of sports knowledge. So you try to tell him why he is stupid but unfortunately Murph just gets pissed and says well its good we got 50/50 on the topic.

The worst and I mean the worst is when you just are like no this is dumb and Murph pulls out his trump card. He would call in Mitch and tell him his great idea. You are done because no matter how bad it is, Mitch will tell him how great the idea is. I might be wrong but I know that Mitch would hate it too unfortunately he would never tell Murph that.

Just by reading the posts on here on Rodman and Quinton, I can only imagine how dumb Murph sounded today. The sad thing is he thinks it's his cleverness that he is displaying for the whole world. Murph is just so damn clever compared to the rest of us.

All of this is restaurant quality. I just miss Murph more now.

I'm convinced that these two and Rudy are pseudonyms for Dan Bernstein. Their e-mails just happen to "show up" a little too conveniently for me to believe they are actual people.
