FOX Sports is still investigating what caused a steel rope to collapse during the early stages of Sunday's Coca-Cola 600. The rope collapsed at Lap 121 and caused a red flag delay of 27 minutes, damaging the cars of Kyle Busch's #18 M&Ms TOYOTA, Mark Martin's #55 Aaron's TOYOTA & Marcos Ambrose's #9 DeWalt Ford, and sending 3 fans to the hospital with 7 others treated and released from the ICU at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Their statement, in case you missed it...

So Bobby Labonte who is driving for an underfunded cellar dweller team is being replaced (at least for 1 race) because of lack of results. This is the same Bobby Labonte who is ahead of Danica in the standings.

I just updated my previous post. Dinger will now be running 5 races for them.

This is obviously a move to get the #10 car higher in the standings. I wonder how much Helton paid them to fire Labonte.

:(

He was involved in a very serious wreck tonight. I don't want to speculate any further.

NBC10 Philadelphia has now tweeted that Jason Leffler has been killed in an awful tragedy on the track. WOW!

I don't know if NASCAR officials will still race at Michigan International Speedway this weekend in the wake of tonight's tragedy involving Jason Leffler.

@AJDinger: My heart goes out to @JasonLeffler family. He was a great guy. So friendly and a hell of a racecar driver. So saddened by this. #Restinpeace

That's not what I meant. I don't know if NASCAR will go ahead with the scheduled Nationwide Series race Saturday & the Sprint Cup Quicken Loans 400 Sunday at Michigan.

Shes not ready. I was glad to hear that Tony Stewart is leaving open wheel racing for the Winston Cup though!

I heard that Chicago is getting an all sports radio station in Chicago. Cant wait!

That is hilarious considering that he has cheater and cheater crew chief on his payroll

Eva Runkowski, 83, of Stanton Road, who was heading north, was killed at about noon Thursday after she drove through a stop sign and into the path of a tractor-trailer.
She was believed to be Driving While Old.

Congresswoman Betty McCollum’s amendment to the 2014 Department of Defense budget was defeated today by a 289-134 margin.

The Minnesota democrat’s bill would have prohibited the Army National Guard from spending $53.5 million to sponsor NASCAR, Indy Car racing World Wrestling Entertainment events in 2014. McCollum called the program “a waste of taxpayer funds,” saying the Guard has been unable to provide any data demonstrating that this recruitment program resulted in actual enlistments.

Not unexpectedly, McCollum reacted angrily to the bipartisan vote, saying, “This is a Congress that has its priorities seriously wrong. I am watching Republicans and Democrats coming together to slash government spending by kicking poor children off the school lunch program and denying low-income seniors access to food. Then these same folks turn around and protect a $53 million taxpayer handout to NASCAR and pro-wrestling. It just shows the American people the extent to which Congress is addicted to spending that directly benefits special interests like NASCAR.”

I agree with the Democratic Congresswomen from Minnesota. The fact that McCollums bill was soundly defeated is disheartening.
