Can you imagine this in the hands of a shitty cop like Elmhurst Steve?

Wow.

What a joke. With all the corrupt cops out there does anyone really think this is a good idea? Freedoms and rights being pissed away more and more everyday.

i just had a cop pull a gun on me for expired plates on my truck. i was laughing, these clowns have their heads so far up their ass they think they are not people anymore. as soon as they suit up, they feel like they are some higher being. no wonder people hate them.

can you imagine a suburb that's 100% free of balck people? that's pretty much what it would end up being, seeing as if this annoyance thing is a felony i reckon that's probable cause to pull over / stop-n-frisk anyone because now the burden of proof can be anything as trivial as "he looked at me funny and i found it annoying."

this isn't to forget that a cop can pretty much do whatever they want to you whenever they want to and fudge up some details later (i had to pull him over and search him, he was talking to that balck guy in the hooded sweatshirt attempting to purchase marijuana, which means i'm well within my bounds to impound his car for an attempted narcotics/cannabis purchase) but like, if this kind of legislation goes through statewide and then starts to catch on in other states and build up nationwide, just imagine the potential implications when you combine that with the #bostonstrong shelter in place paradigm and then, yeah, now is the time to pay for one of those fraternal order of police window decals, eh? maybe you should buy 5 of them and have them on your house windows too. get a tattoo if it'll help!

Cops are generally just jerkoffs. Yesterday at the Sox game some goof in a Rollie Finger jersey was getting loaded in the seats in front of me. He wasn't bothering me. In fact, except for the old jersey I hardly noticed him. I was getting loaded too. I guess he must have been a little loud and was swearing and some family of four complained. I do think it's pretty ridiculous that you can't say fuck at a ballgame. Especially if you're watching this Sox team. Whatever. An entire army of Sox security came over and told the guy he was out of there. Normally I would be on the fan's side. This guy really didn't do anything to warrant this overreaction from these off-duty goons. But then two of the guy's buddies pulled out their wallets and tried to show their badges to security. They tossed the guy anyway. There was one broad on the security force. She turned to me and smiled and said, "Everybody has a badge nowadays."

A bill making its way through the New York state legislature would make it a crime to annoy a police officer by subjecting them to physical contact.

I don't know if the article clearly explains the bill. If the test is unwanted physical contact then it kind of does make sense. Anyone stupid enough to touch a cop without an invitation deserves to go to jail. But if the cop is just annoyed with someone's behavior and no law was violated - well that is a problem.

And the cops I personally know aren't all necessarily jerkoffs, but they do seem a little odd, each in their own way.

jesus christ dude, what kind of a weird sheltered family goes and reports a guy for swearing at a ballgame? that's part of the fun of being a kid; getting out of your element and being in those "special" situations where you hear lewd things with drunken adults, whether it be hanging out with your uncle and his buddies who had a row of season tickets in section M of the stadium from ~80-92, or whether it was hanging out in the backyard at a family barbeque when everyone was tanked and the grown ups started telling their [n-word] stories.... it had the mysticism of like, breathing underwater.... you knew you weren't supposed to be there, but the fact that you were meant that you were growing up.

now these parents, who no doubt let television/media/internet/cellphones do ~75% of the work of raising their kids, wanna get all sacrosanct and make up for their own existential voids re: parenting and go and shit all over someone else watching baseball because, gasp, THEY'RE SAYING INAPPROPRIATE THINGS AROUND **MY** CHILDREN!?!?!?

i guarantee you there's a 90% chance that those kids grow up to be some kind of shitheads, because quoteth george carlin "in any group of people there's always a few winners and a whole lot of losers" and with these parents instilling the idea that it's ok to go and shit all over someone else's day/night of entertainment because they're hurting your feelings? yikes. no wonder we're making it a felony to annoy cops; we're prolly on the path to going all UK and getting those antisocial violations that include, but are not limited to, locking up kids for talking shit to footballers on twitter.

The majority of my friends who are cops became Chicago Cops about 7-8 years ago when they graduated from college and couldn't find stable work. That was when they were hiring everyone who took and past the test. I haven't seen much of a change in their personalities, but then again almost none of them grew up wanting to be cops.

I do know one cop I grew up with who was always trying to boss people around when we were younger. People would make fun of him and give him shit cause no one was scared or respected him. I'd be willing to bet he is a dickhead cop.

It has also been my experience that suburban cops are a lot more difficult to deal with than city cops. I was once pulled over in Bedford Park by three squads for not coming to a complete stop before turning right at a red light.

I can remember being at a Sox game when I was a kid and Thad Bosley was a young player you thought might be good. We were sitting at the game and I asked my dad what kind of name Thaddis was. A drunken goon sitting behind us leaned over me and said, "It's a n-igger name." My dad said something like, "There are a lot of ignorant people in the world that say a lot of stupid stuff." He knew he couldn't hide the world from me.

In the meantime, the same douchebag that is getting all worked up over someone motherfucking Adam Dunn in the stands will take his kid to see a Tarantino movie.

they have nothing to do. city cops have to deal with actual problems on average a lot more than a suburban cop will.

usually when you see more than one police car, there's going to be an arrest or it's something serious. in the suburbs it could be something as simple as a plate light being out.

yes, i can. its called cambridge, wisconsin. been here 2 months and i literally have not seen a single black person. its really weird. what i dont understand though, there is still crime and i still have to lock my doors. i never though black people would drive 20 miles across country roads, do vandalism, and drive back before i wake up. whatever though.

Having recently spent the better part of a weekend night in holding cell at 18th and Wabash (no tv, no cell mate to butt-rape or vice versa, baloney on wonder bread without condiments, shoelaces and belt taken away, so no-go on the auto-erotic asphyxiation for entertainment...having been to jail a few times before, nothing's changed, it's just boring as hell) for--as far as anyone could discern-- being somewhat tallish and trespassing on the ego of 4'10"short blonde-haired lady cop--which lollipop guild member then tried to fight another cop who was supposed to transport me and showed up late b/c he and his partner were watching the Hawks game and she wanted to bust out for dinner/lunch after saving the city from loud techno music in a southside loft... not sure what my point was other than a lengthy +1. Everyone in the room was shocked she had her partner cuff me and haul me off to the hoosegow for a simple noise complaint, but I think she just wanted to arrest someone easy so she could spend the rest of her shift doing paperwork back at the station.

First half of her shift:

arrest doughy white-guy for no good reason.

challenge fellow officer to take off his belt and come outside and fight

Lunch

Wishing I gotten her phone number, she was a trip.

The law is a good idea. There are idiots (especially at protest marches for example) that try to bait a Police Officer into striking them. They push and say offensive things to an officer hoping he will lose his cool. Then they file a lawsuit against the officer and the city and hope it incites the crowd as well. A law like this can help preserve peace without any harm coming to anyone. "Lets get this straight, the police officer is not there to create disorder, he's there to preserve disorder".....I liked old Mayor Daley.

The police officer shouldn't lose his/her cool and take the bait, they wear the big boy pants, they wear the gun and they have the badge...thus they have the authority and that comes with responsibility. Cops deal with idiots, they deal with protestors, if they can't handle some Starbucks chugging beatnik calling them names and pushing them, well, they probably should be doing something else for a living.

40-50 years ago, if you said something stupid to a Police officer, you would probably get your ass beat and maybe arrested to boot. But today, with cell phones that can take video and cameras everywhere it's lawsuit a go-go. Young adults and teens today often have little/no respect for people in positions of authority and behave like idiots towards people in those positions of authority, because they so often resent anyone that holds authority over them. This law is meant to give the officer the means to deal effectively with such individuals. A Police officer is there to protect and serve, not be harassed and interfered with.

That's been going on since the dawn the time, nothing has changed in that regard.

We should all feel so lucky that we aren't getting our skulls caved in for saying "something stupid" to an office of the law, these days. Lucky us! If only us evil citizens didn't have camera phones we wouldn't be able to hold L.E. accountable and those bad cops, crooked cops, cops that abuse their power and cops that beat the shit out of someone for saying "something stupid" could keep doing those things with impunity. What a shame. Of course, L.E.'s answer to camera phones is to assault the the person with the phone, take the phone and arrest them. So you still have that going for you, which is nice.

Awesome.

You must be either unaware or too young to know better to say this. The problem is that kids today have the feeling they can act out against anyone with impunity. Whether that person is their parent, a teacher, a Principal, a Police officer or any other person in a position of authority over them. If they are spanked or hit in any way, they scream child abuse. They truely operate to a great extent (all too often) as if they can do/say whatever they want. Laws like this may help them realize thats not true. I don't remember crowds of teens beating people on Michigan Ave. and taking their valuables and money as has happened many times in the past few years. It's time to get control back.

Steve, kids flouting and questioning authority has been going on for 50 years. It's not new.

And the example of mobs of kids beating and stealing is irrelevant in regards to this discussion as that is already against the law.

Questioning authority is fine. Monitoring authority is fine. But harassing someone and interfering with his ability to do his job is not. That's what this law is about. You want to go too far, there will be a negative consequence.

One thing is clear. I was correct when I told Steve that he hasn't gotten the whole "cop power trip" thing out of his system. Nothing would make him happier than to crack the skulls of a few young people, preferably minorities. George Zimmerman is probably his hero.

See, if being racist was a problem FOR ME, being called out for it would be an issue. But it's not. As far as post Softball activities go, that's never been a part of it. Perhaps you play in some "special" league that has incorporated such festivities, I do not. The website design doesn't interest me. It's unimportant to me and I couldn't care any less about it. But I will continue on with the Wallpapering and painting business, thanks. But no work for me today, it's a beautiful day and after checking on a work site and dropping off some material, I'm going golfing. Sunny and 74 degrees-gotta do it. Plus, the weather this weekend looks like it gonna be kinda crummy.

Stick to shoddy website design, post-softball male fellatio and painting ya racist fuck.

What a great business owner you are... 'The website doesnt interest me.' Yeah, who uses the internet to research companies they want to hire.

I guess you must drum up a lot of business at all the Klan rallies though so at least you have that going for you...which is nice.

If you hate Laurence, then don't listen - don't comment. When he co-hosts the B&B show, take that day off ... listen to an old podcast of a Bernstein solo show and jerk off all day.
