With the Sox losers of their last 4 straight (including the last 3 against the lowly Astros) ,now 28-38, 10 games under .500 and 9 1/2 games behind Detroit and in the Central Division cellar....is it funny bad yet? Do Sox fans even care enough now to follow the team? Is it time to scrap the season and deal anyone not named Chris Sale?

It's close.

Getting picked off second as the tying run to end a game is closing in on dog-killingly bad.

There isn't much to deal from this team.

Going to be a long remainder of the year.

I knew they had been losing quite a bit recently but I didn't realize they had a virtually identical record to the Cubs now.

last season was the bataan death march. they were in first for most of it, but you knew it wasn't going to end well.... and the season played out as a long exruciating march where you really didn't want to reach the end of it.

this one? idk.... while it amuses the white SUX contingent to no end (cuz really, who wants to point out that the rizzometer was down to .249 before today's likely 1/4-at-best) still.... this isn't as bad as people make it out to be. if anything, you're rest assured that those people 5 seats down from you at the cell are there to see some baseball. c'est la vie.

what the fuck did you think was going to happen this year? why are you watching? at this point in your life if you watch baseball only for winning..... holy shit dude, it's baseball.... of all the games in the american professional sports lexicon isn't this the one where the most successful teams are still losing like 40-45% of the time? it's a humbling game like that, and nobody in their right mind thought the white sox were gonna do anything so like.... what, do you just watch so you can see the inevitable and find solace in running to people like OMFG THEY SUCK!??!?! it's like seeing a 500lb woman on a scooter at walmart and pointing at her and going HOLY SHIT YOU'RE FAT..... we know, and believe me, SHE knows more than you ever will.

red sox fans have a more legit beef re: 2011 where your heart got tore out in one month.... but this? midaswell just put on your bernstein mask except the difference between you two is $100k+ to bitch about that slothralopithicus on the scooter at walmart.

also, the white SUX general manager was talking about 2015 at the end of 2011. seriously think about that.... everyone involved in white sox land knew that this wasn't going to be.... anything for awhile. hell, said general manager got the fuck out of dodge cuz he knew what was coming.... and now we're here and like...... yeah. idk. to me real pain = shit like the 03 cubs or even last year's sox where at least this false sense of hope was installed in you for a majority of the season only to be snatched away by the cold cruel hands of fate in the end.

this? seriously, the real baseball fans are stoked that the nearest ppl are 5 seats away from them so they got more space to go see yu darvish pitch or something

If that were true, they wouldn't have spent the money they did to bring Peavy back. They made that move, believing (foolishly) that they could win the division. Or at least compete for it. Now it is clear I was right when I said they should not bring Peavy back, trade Rios, Konerko and if at all possible Dunn and rebuild.

no they didn't.... come on now, i know you need them "all in" so your SUX barbs have maximum effect and all of that, but they're just kicking the tires on whatever that was last year and keeping a walking grinder soundbite around to assuage the casual fans that they're really trying cuz at this juncture in time and space they don't wanna pull a "the kids can play" cuz there's a thread in the top25 here about how the farm system is bare... the kids can't play so a total rebuild would just be stupid at this point so they throw out a team that has a ~15% chance of doing something, if it doesn't and another ~72-90 type season or whatever it's awwww shucks and whatnot, but in reality, it's just lip service.... if they were truly "all in" they woulda gone and got a 3B, you know, one of those cocksuckers who can hit the ball out of the park. they wouldn't have gotten keppinger and gillaspie if they were really trying to do anything.

the peavy signing is akin to those feelgood aj/pauly signings that happened a few years ago, if anything the whole thing is a fond farewell to kenny by saying "hey, you DIDN'T screw the pooch by getting peavy.... look! we kept him!" and it's more political / band-aid-on-the-titanic than like, your irrevocable proof that these white sox are "all in" and "going for it" or whatever the hell you need to believe in order to honestly giggle like you're loki reincarnate making your stupid SUX threads.

The problem to me is they have way too many power only hitters, and way too many defense only hitters with really no offensive instincts. You can't put out a lineup where you have three Adam Dunn types and four Conor Gillaspie types. You've got Rios and a rapidly declining Konerko, and that's about it. Everything in the minors looks like another rendition of Adam Dunn. Your best AAA players this year are Greene and Danks which are fine defensively, but can't hit major league pitching. Josh Phegley looks like he has a shot to come up and see what he can do, but this is the first year he is hitting over 300 in the minors, so we'll see how well that translates. At this point, I'm not sure it takes much to knock Flowers out of his roster spot. The rest of your Charlotte team is filled with guys who just can't do it in the majors: Bryan Anderson, DeWayne Wise, Brent Morel -- these are guys who would be the ninth man on a competitive team -- you can't fill a team with guys like that and expect to be contending.

I don't see skyrocketing guys in Birmingham either (save possibly for another catcher) and Hawkins is still striking out literally more than every other at bat. I think you have some pitching possibilities in the minors, but you're more or less rebuilding with no real movable parts.

Hawkins has such amusing stats tough, like you said, 71Ks in 146 ABs and of his 28 hits, 19 of them are XBHs (13 HRs).

Yeah, your hope there is that the coaching staff and Hawkins can identify just what is making him strikeout so easily and he can change his approach without changing his power numbers. But with that many strikeouts, I'm guessing it isn't just the change-up he is having issues with, but the slider, sinker, and curve too. :-D I haven't really seen him bat, so I can't speak to that, but it is an ungodly number and certainly a project -- not a guy I would expect up in the next couple of years.

Its a good thing that Cubs fans are not as concerned with the Sox.

Who are the All Stars from these 2 jokes of MLB teams? Rios? Rizzo? A couple of weeks ago, Addison Reed might have been in the mix, but certainly not now. Jesse Crain?

Please stop quoting this assclown.

Although I do enjoy him starting a thread by taking a phrase from a show who openly makes fun of him on the radio.

Best batting avg against in the NL, Travis Wood at .191 and least hits per nine.

Samardjzajakaski most K's per 9, but too many average outings.

So Elmhurst Steve hates B&B so much he is using terms they coined?

Oh that's right, he didn't even use the term correctly.

Hate is probably not the correct term. I dislike their show and no longer have to listen to it even for an hour, thanks to ESPN not having the 1 hour national broadcast anymore between S&W and C & J. I think the term Funny bad originated with Boers way back when he was broadcasting with Mac as part of the Heavy Fuel Crew. But either way, it doesn't matter. I base my opinions concerning the show on having listened enough to have formed an opinion of it. During the course of that time, I did hear the further use of the phrase "funny bad" along with Terry using EEEEEEE and By Cracky probably hundreds of times. But the funny bad thing seems to fit this team In the situation it finds itself in. I'm glad it seems to have found so much approval. It's funny how the thread title has now become the focus, rather than the team and its state of decline. I guess that is a lot less fun to focus on.
