I think Peavy can bring back at least one decent prospect, and if Konerko starts hitting him too.

It's time for a louder message to be sent. Someone needs to be released (De Aza), someone needs to be traded (Alexei), someone needs to be sent to the minors (Flowers) or all of the above. They can not continue to roll out the same piles of shit everyday and expect things to get better. It's time to rock the boat and there are plenty of options available.

Take it a step further and can somebody from the coaching staff. Some of the defensive miscues, forgetting the damn count, all of the passed balls, and the bad baserunning is mental stuff that can be blame squarely on the coaching staff.

How is a passed ball a fault of the coaching staff? I would hope that by the time someone gets to the big league level, they've mastered the art of being able to catch the ball.

Flowers was SUPPOSED to be such a great catcher. He was gonna cut down on stolen bases and handle the staff so well that even if they lost something on offense, they would be better off. Yet here he is having these problems with passed balls. They were right about losing on the offensive side though.

Part of the blame lies on the shoulders of the coaching staff because Flowers tries to backhand a lot of balls in the dirt rather than get his body in front of the ball. That is something that should be pointed out to him and corrected.

There have been at least 2 or 3 times this year that I have seen him just flat out wiffed on a pitch that was off the plate as well. I'm sure its happened more than I have seen.

These are not isolated incidents. Over 162 games that sort of thing is bound to happen a few times. With Tyler Flowers they happen almost once a series.

Plus, Flowers still strikes out in 32% of his at bats. 6 homers and just 16 RBI too. If he had better power numbers the low batting average (.220) and high strikeout total would be easier to take. But he's not giving the team power numbers either.

This is pretty much what I expected out of Flowers (maybe slightly higher power numbers). You had to give him a shot, though. Same thing with Phegley next year. Once they reach a certain age, you have to get them an opportunity to either prove themselves or get gone.

Flowers had struck out in 41% of his at bats last season....same as Dunn. The fact that he has struck out in 32% of his at bats this season is an improvement. Flowers batted .213 last season and is hitting .220 this season. Again, an improvement however slight. To have expected great things from Flowers would be silly. The biggest disappointment is that his OPS is down a bit. But he's pretty much the guy one might have reasonably expected. I know this is what I predicted.

I figured .230 but 20 HR and dunn levels of K. I never thought he was some game changing level of defensive catcher but someone who was adequate.
