Bad news for the studs, as the Spurs are a win away from their fifth championship, one that most experts have predicted will be remembered as highly androgynous.

Hawks head to Boston for Game 3 tonight, having to win tonight or Wednesday to offset the home loss on Saturday.

Terry wrote a nice piece for Father's Day yesterday: http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2013/06/16/ ... thers-day/

He ought to write more. "Good guy with a heart of gold burdened by a kid with a head of crap" is a funnier turn of phrase than one of Dan's where he tries to daisy-chain an adverb salad, a condemnation of working-class white Chicagoans, and a line from David Foster Wallace into something that by the time it's done, forgot to say anything.

that was a nice piece by Terry..... it is too bad he doesn't write more, you can tell he is actually a writer whereas bernstein comes off a hack on most of his convoluted blogs.

I was underwhelmed by Terry's article. It was just like he is in studio. Asking and answering his own questions etc.

I thought it was gonna be great. It was ok.

Agreed. I applaud the effort and I'm sure it was heart-felt, but I was very underwhelmed by how it was written.

I think when I saw that an old writer had Taken to the pen again, and people sharing it on FB, it would be great.

It was fine. Not eloquent though. Is that how Terry always wrote? Real casual conversational style?

It seemed like a column just that about anyone could have sent in. I would expect something more polished from a professional writer. It was, however, refreshing to hear what he had to say without a million asides and him getting lost in his own thoughts.

Yes it is saccharine, but that is a nice, old style piece. Too bad so few columnists can write from the heart anymore.

Spilling the beans on Bob in Niles:

-Bret Lyons drove him back to the residence home because the bus wasn't going to show up and he didn't know which one to take if it did.
-He wasn't supposed to leave.
-The residence home didn't even know he was gone.
-Played more audio of Bob calling the producers and then roundly mocking him.

That's some fine work, fellas!

Jeebus, every time I tune in lately they are either talking to or about Bob from Niles or Mike from Milwaukee. WTF is the fascination with these two?

Nelson Mandela Admits Thoughts, Prayers Of Millions Played No Part In Recovery
‘My Doctors Treated Me,’ Explains South African Icon

PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA—Addressing supporters Monday from the hospital bed where he is being treated for a recurring lung infection, former South African president Nelson Mandela admitted that the millions of thoughts, prayers, and well-wishes he has received have played absolutely no role in his improving health, and that his recovery has been 100 percent dependent on doctors. “In these past days of struggle, I have seen messages of hope and love from citizens around the world, which, while nice, weren’t going to help remove the excess fluid from my lungs. Doctors do that,” Mandela told reporters. “The capacity of gentle souls to unite their voices in a message of peace and strength is certainly the greatest gift of mankind—I’m not denying any of that. But when you’re a 94-year-old man with a horrible lung infection, you need trained medical professionals. That’s really most important. All that prayer stuff is, frankly, pretty useless.” Mandela said that while his doctors were compassionate and thoughtful human beings of unflinching character, that’s not going to do anyone any good if they “don’t give me some codeine.”

I've had the show on for an hour in the background at work. I don't remember anything sports related even coming up.

He wasn't supposed to leave the remote, or the residence home?

The home, they didn't know that he left and thus had no clue where he was. Apparently he didn't even know how to get back to the home or which bus to take so Brett Lyons took him back.

A couple of real stand up guys....

So a dementia patient wandered out of his residence, went to a B&B remote, shot the shit with the guys, had a cheeseburger, than was driven home.

I have to admit that's funny. I can no longer hate on them for Bob(other than it being bad radio). The guy is complicit in all of this!

But as long as they buy him a cheeseburger and mock him constantly it's A-OK.

That sounds like a real safe home too! Alzheimer's residents are supposed to have an alarm that goes off if they go out the door. That's fucking crazy, and dangerous.

If Bob was my kin, I'd be raising holy hell!!

What? Come on, it was great!

They pulled a doddering old man out of a nursing home to come to a remote to be mocked in person! They even gave him a cheeseburger!

It's funny! Like when BernSTINE compares black athletes to livestock!

It would have been super hilarious if Bob got on the wrong bus and never made it back to the nursing home! Or maybe he wasn't able to take his prescribed medication!

Comedy gold!

B&B has become the Howard Stern Show. I expect Beetlejuice and Wendy the Retard to be on the air, any day now.

Maybe they can take a blind kid to a movie premier next. Of a deaf kid to a Tributo show? Disabilities = hilarious!

I guess I'm riding the fence on this. The story as a whole made me laugh, but I feel bad about doing so.
