I just don't think Memphis shoots enough threes to hang with Miami. The Spurs hit 14 threes yesterday and shot almost 50 percent. They also have more guys who just hit clutch shots than Memphis.

This was a great read. RR was ahead of me by about a year.

Bryon's post got me thinking about hanging myself again.

Just skimmed this. Seems you two are using different arguments to make the same point. I don't think being innovative and original is necessarily indicative of good coaching, nor do I agree with your point which kind of blames Pop for beating bad teams in the Finals.

I should point out I'm not in complete agreement with RR. I think he is a great coach but he's the 2nd or 3rd tier.

My point didn't begin and end with Finals wins.

Sure, that's fair. So, how would you respond to OKC's listing of the teams to whom the Spurs lost? Let's start in 2002 since that's when Manu was added to the roster. Aside from losing some series due to injuries, they were often beat by teams that were eventual WC champions. Will you then reconsider your position on Pop often losing to awful teams in the playoffs?

My question would be, which team is going to walk into Game 7 flat? Because I see arguments for both being flat.

Might end up a game of attrition, with the winner backing into victory. Either a great game, a blowout, or the shits :-) Well, that about covers everything :-)

Awful was probably a bad word to use. He lost to too many lower seeds. David Robinson was still a star for a couple years too. The exits came from collaspes. He lost to an 8th seed 2 years ago. A top tier coach would have repeated or done better in the playoffs as an annual top seed.

Spurs will still be "down" but if Miami is too overconfident it may backfire.

They need to repeat. They need to take the reins off Leonard for good.

Well I was wrong on them. Is this still a "quasi" dynasty though? Five rings, six finals (damn you, Ginobli) spread out over fifteen years seems to qualify for a legit dynasty, imo.

It's really tough to be called a dynasty without winning back to back at some point. That'll take care of itself a year from now though.

Just like the great Coach Pop's HOF introductions were written after game two of this past series...oops.

They're done. And I'm ready for the great Coach Pop  to be exposed as just the monkey driving the Duncan bandwagon that he has been.

This quote never gets old.

Sorry, RR. I guess he's just driving the Kawhi bandwagon now, right? 8)

I learned my lesson three years ago. Spurs got this. Harden will never accomplish anything, certainly not ending the Spurs as we know them.

The Spurs have the best player under 26 years old in the NBA. We can bump this thread in 2027.
