Right now. Especially if the NHL goes to 7 games like the NBA.

Because of the NHL strike, this is the first time the NBA and NHL finals have overlapped, right? Pretty sure I'm right. So you've had like 11 games over 14 days of championship play. Good games, too. Greatest two weeks ever.

(Waiting for judgment. I think I made a good sports observation. A good post. Hoping they like it. We'll see.)

Bad thought series over lap quite often if Stanley Cup finals go 6 or 7 games.

Terrible thought. You know better too. There has only been 1 really good game in the NBA Finals and Crawford is trying his best to lose tonight. Having 1 great game in each series will never equal best 2 weeks ever.

They may overlap with the last with games 6 or 7. But this one is more tight. With more championship games over a two week period. Plus you also consider the U.S Open and the severe beating that I am taking from you people. That's been quite a sporting event as well. With all of that, I declare a win.

Still not seeing how not having him on 'ignore' is a virtue. I'll hang up and wait for my answer.

As much as I love Hockey & the Stanley Cup Final, its hard to beat either the first or the last 2 weeks of March Madness.

It's like a second job! Actually exhausting, I will be fine when it is over.

The OT's in both bring it there

I'd love to hear a comparison of how the bars are doing during this Blackhawks run versus Bulls championship years

Probably the same. Just different clientele, I'd imagine.

Was just discussing this yesterday.

Remember the cartoon head t shirts of the Bulls teams?

I swear everyone in the city bought as much of that stuff as they could get their hands on.

It was crazy. Once you hit the conference finals, every game was an event.

One of the kids on the bus freshman year had a "Back 4 More" hat celebrating Jordan's return.

That became his nickname and stuck all throughout high school

This might sound insignificant and maybe it's nostalgia, but the NBA on NBC's coverage kinda made it feel that way for me. I've seen NBA ball on all the major networks and by far NBC's coverage was the best, IMO. That shit was just epic every time, even for the lesser matchups.

If you remember, every street corner with any kind of traffic had a vendor sitting out there around the clock selling bulls stuff. If you were smart, you could wait about a month until they were looking to get rid of them cheap.

It was a big thing back in the day because all the conference final matchups, as well as the Finals were on National TV. Now there's 100's of cable networks out there that produce original programming. This has hurt playoff broadcasts for all the major sports.

The mere fact that they dont show the games on regular tv probably hurst quite a bit too.

ABC barely shows any games outside of the finals. They should be running triple headers on Sunday's once the NFL playoffs are done. What else is there on TV during that time?

You two are right about the national TV thing. NBC used to do afternoon games on Saturdays and Sundays. I used to love watching Inside Stuff on Saturdays when it led right into NBA Showtime, followed by two games. Then on Sundays you'd have a Bulls game followed by a West Coast matchup. That's the only way I got to see teams like Seattle, Houston, Phoenix, and GS because we didn't get cable til 1993.

Nowadays, you're lucky to get 1 game a week on ABC, and it's always: Lakers, Heat, Celtics, Knicks, or Thunder.

Just a combination of the need to declare everything the "Greatest" ever, and the OP's penchant for clamoring for attention with hyperbole

i thought i read somewhere that Stern was actually in favor of reducing the number of national TV games when it changed from NBC to ABC, that he felt too many games was overexposing them

and some of those old NBA Sunday games were actual regional broadcasts too, so sometimes they were actually airing 4-5 games
but i agree, after football i don't get why you wouldn't show more games. a lot of times they'll have a good Sunday night game they throw on ESPN , i'd think a 2:30 start on ABC would get a better audience than a 7 or 8pm start on ESPN, but who knows
