Just read that during my morning constitutional. :D

maybe the site of a future CSFMB meetup? I said I would never play it again, but I might be persuaded. Last year I wasn't that far removed from spine surgery #7 when I played it and it was a brutal 8 mile uphill walk. Maybe in a year I might feel up to it again.

I would like to play it again. I got out there shortly after its opening and I know they have done some significant
redesigns to it. Anyone getting out to golf this weekend?

No golf this weekend, Hawg Jr. has a baseball tournament in Port Washington. :(

I have jewlympics training camp in South Bend this weekend and plan to squeeze in 2 rounds. Have one set for sure friday at noon at South Bend Country Club and then hope to play one Sunday after our game if I feel up to it. Might hit up The Brassie on the way home to Chicago for an afternoon tee time.

I played 9 yesterday after work with my fiancee. She took up the game not even 2 months ago and its amazing how much she has progressed. She's had a few lessons and has gone to practice countless times so she is definitely putting in the work and its starting to pay off. First time I took her out she whiffed about half the time. Yesterday, there was one whiff and it came on a severe lie with the ball way above her feet. Off the tee she can put it out there about 150 with her driver and hits it pretty consistently. She hits her hybrid about 110-120 and really connected on some. Also really good with the 3 wood. And she has some good iron shots as well. Still has as problem with lifting her head up and had several topped shots. Putting is a attrocious, but so's mine sometimes and I've been playing for 30 years.

Overall, its looking more and more like I'll be able to take her on a golf themed honeymoon to real courses and she'll be able to hold her own. I'm thinking the Dominican, looks like there are some amazing courses there. Not a bad trip, golf in teh morning, beach the rest of the day, eating and drinking and then do it all again the next day and so on.

That's what makes me really nervous about the games. No one has asked us for proof that we are jewish or that we are over 40. Now I know everyone on my team is, but I'm concerned that a team like Russia is going to show up with 10 guys barely 30 who all have blond hair and blue eyes.

I have quite a bit of golf coming up in the next week or so. Heading out to the local county
course tomorrow and they promised to get me out by 6 ahead of the bigger, slower groups.
Sunday I may try to play but getting a new couch delivered so that takes priority obviously.
Might just be a day to go to the range and tighten things up. Monday taking a half day and
my buddy's dad got us out at a private course just west of Lake Geneva called Big Foot C.C.
Wednesday I am meeting up with an old high school and college buddy to play 9 after work
at Midlane C.C. in Wadsworth. I have to try to cram in as much golf as I can as a ramp up
to the Kenosha County open which starts 3 weeks from today.

Watched the last few holes of the golf tournament on tv yesterday including the sudden death. That
was pretty awesome.

Played the prairie course at Countryside on Saturday morning. Course is in great shape despite the rain. Wide fairways, rough wasn't severe, greens challenging and in great shape. Greensfees with cart are $52. Highly recommend for those up north.

Yeah that course isn't too bad. Pretty sure I played that one with Frank a few years back. Defintely generous
fairways and even if you miss those the course is pretty open. I was invited to play the course next door Steeple
Chase yesterday but turned down the invite. I'd recommend that one as well. A bit more challenging than
Countryside.

Played the Elks Club in Pontiac yesterday. 54 on the front 41 on the back. 3 snowmen is a real good way to fuck up a round of golf.

I remember Countryside being pretty cool. It was windy as fuck that day so that skewed the scores a little bit.

Played 9 holes in Michigan this weekend and shot 44. Felt like I shot a lot worse than that. Still nothing doing with the driver, but hit my irons really damn good (as I did Thursday at Seven Bridges).

Just looking over the scorecard for the course I am playing this afternoon. I didn't realize it was par 73.
Don't see that too often, in fact I am not sure I have ever played a course with a par more than 72.

With the scarcity of trees, there isn't much to knock down a strong wind. I can only imagine how difficult it was that day.

I've heard great things about Steeple Chase. What are the fairways and greens like compared to Countryside?

Played 2 rounds at South Bend Country Club this weekend. They might as well call it "mini-Merion" cause that's what it seemed like. Tiny elevated greens and because they hosted a big tournament there the week before the grass hadn't been cut and the rough was 4 inches around the green and in the second cut off the fairway. It was a lot of fun to play a course set up like that vs the courses we see 99% of the time. We didn't finish 18 the first day because the storm siren went off when we were on 18, but I probably shot around mid 90s. Kept trying my gap wedge from 60-70 yards out and would hit it perfectly and it would go 90 yards. So had to deal with that rough a lot.

Second round was like the baton death march. We had just played a hockey game an hour earlier and actually had played 4 hockey games in less than 3 days so we had no business being out there. My sciatica was acting up even before the first hole. We ended up not keeping score after awhile and taking some drops out of the rough cause it thought of trying to swing that hard was like torture.

Overall, I'm hoping that playing in those conditions will make me a better player when I face the easy conditions I see on a normal basis.

It is a totally different type of course than Countryside. It used to be my home course in college so got to play
there probably 100 times or more. I would say that the greens are a bit smaller and more undulating than
Countryside. Very hilly in parts and while it is open much like Countryside there are a number of holes where
you can hit out of bounds or in the water. Just has a lot more character and the holes are more interesting.
I haven't played out there in a few years but they usually take good care of it. Pretty tough track worth
checking out if you get the chance.

Played a really nice course yesterday called Big Foot C.C. up near Lake Geneva. What a beautiful
area up there, makes me wonder what people do for a living to be able to afford the boats and
summer homes up there. I must be on the #veryslowtrack . Anyway it never ceases to amaze
me when you stumble across these little private clubs you have never heard of before and what
gems many of them are. This was an older course and played about 6800 from the tips which
was plenty. Rolling hills, lots of trees and small quick greens were the order of the day. I couldnt
get a darn thing going on the front nine. Seemed as though I would hit one bad shot on each hole.
Enough to not get any kind of rhythmn going. I made back to back double bogeys on 6 and 7 then
missed a 2 ft putt after a nice sand shot on the next hole.

My golf game has been very schizophrenic the last few weeks. Back nine I take an early double after
trying to drive over a creek 270 out. Next four holes I manage birdie, par, birdie, birdie. Feeling
pretty good about myself and my game after that. The next tee I put my ball out of bounds and then
my second tee shot maybe 60 yards down the fairway after flubbing it. A take a triple to erase all
the birdies. :(

Anyway it was a nice day and we didn't get any rain, we managed to finish right before the weather
rolled in. Shot an 86 with three doubles and one triple bogey. Just need to get more consistent.
Only my forth round playing my own ball so hopefully it will come around in the next few weeks.
Still was better than being at work.

Nice to finally get out for a weekend round without having to fight the weather. Although cool
yesterday it was sunny and beautiful. Teed off at 7:30 and finished by 11 so not bad for walking
on a Sunday. Hitting the ball slightly better but still off with approach shots. Only one double
bogey so that is getting better. All in all for a tight course I was pretty happy with a 78 and no
three putts. Looking forward to getting some golf in maybe July 4th and once on the weekend.
Unfortunately I have to work on Friday.

Played terrible at Wedgewood yesterday. I could blame it on the abnormally high winds throughout the afternoon, but I'm not a PGA Tour crybaby.

Played Big Foot CC many times back in the late '90's. Love that course. So many CC courses like it on the North Shore that I've never heard of. Need better connections.

Tried to play Countryside last year but that goofy weather indicator system they have keep going off, so they weren't letting anyone go off. Headed over to Steeple Chase and enjoyed it.

5 weeks afterr my boneheaded bicycle accident and my wrists are starting to feel normal. Went out chipping/putting yesterday, but still felt some soreness on full swings.

Hoping to be good to go in a couple of weeks for some CSFMB Northside golf.

Will do, fellas. Had an opportunity to play next week in the Gaylord MI area, but I just think 3 straight days of golf would be unwise. I know the Treetops courses get all the buzz, but the Otsego Tribute course up there blew me away. Every hole has amazing views, especially in the fall. Gary Koch design.

Oh yeah, made the switch this year to a center-shafted putter and it's been a game-changer for me. Being a right-handed golfer who's left-eye dominant, it really allows me to see the line better. Takes the timing aspect out of my stroke.

Shot 87 at Deer Creek in University park on Sat. Shot and drove real well on the front 9, putted like an asshole. Chipped and putted better on the back, but didn't have the irons worked quite as well as the front. Still pretty happy when I break 90.

Shot 48 yesterday on 9 holes. Really bad. Only thing worthwhile was the driver. Putted badly and didn't hit a single GIR. Wind was not a factor, just bad shots.

Heading up to Green Lake tonight for a long weekend of golf. Going to play the Woodlands course at Lawsonia on my birthday tomorrow with my dad and fiancee.

Then on the 4th I'm going back to Lawsonia to the Links course to show my fiancee what real greens look like. She 4 putts at Billy Caldwell sometimes, can't wait to see her take a look at her first 40 footer downhill triple tiered putt lol.

Not sure where I'm playing the rest of the week, probably at Mascoutin once and then might get adveturous and take a little drive and find a nice course I haven't played before. Might take the drive to this place, I think its a little over an hour... http://www.northernbayresort.com/golf/the-castle-course-wisconsin-dells-area-golf

That sounds like a damn good weekend Shakes. Enjoy! We should get out again after your hockey is
over.

My biggest challenge comes with courses not taking tee times for single players. I understand this of course
so try to see if I can sneak out before the first tee time. Sometimes places let me and other times they don't.
I didn't hold out much hope with this being a holiday weekend. Anyway I called a few places and no dice with
most places being booked. I've been playing a small out of the way course lately and gave them a call. The
guy says, "We open at 6. Come on out. If we aren't open yet just head out and pay when you are done."
With any luck I'll have my golf in by around 9 and the rest of the day to enjoy. The only bad thing about
this is the last time I played they let people off the back so after the turn it slowed down significantly. Not
a huge deal.
