Most interracial marriages are pretty well accepted in American society including intermarrying between whites and asians and other non-similar ethnic groups. Regardless of what tolerance the media preaches black/white marriage is not socially acceptable for everyone and it is difficult on the children. Not every white dad is cool with having a black man for a son-in-law. If you're going to spin it as though everyone on this board and Dan Bernstein is cool with that then you're obviously lying.

In my experience, the white parents are usually furious with their daughter when she is dating the black or Hispanic guy, but that guy often turns out to be the favorite son-in-law. Most parents just want their kids to be happy.

Jorr is right I think. Happy kids make their parents happy. I bet though there are many people my age or older that grew up where I did in Chicago that wouldn't want this. Many flat out racist to be sure. Others I know would say they really do not dislike or otherwise discriminate on race but would prefer their race/ethnic heritage carry on.

But this is different than what MD is implying, who seems to favor imposing a sort of "natural order" to the social world, in which the color of one's skin determines the normative status of relationships, and whether they are normal, acceptable and/or "natural." There's a bunch of pseudoscience that was used to back this up a long time ago, and I wouldn't be surprised if he submits to such theories.
