Offense was much better in 2010. Defense is slightly better this year. Goalie was slightly better in 2010. So overall the 2010 team is better.

But I would also say the playoff competition was much tougher this year.

2010

The experience that the core got from that year helped in this years playoffs. Without it I don't see them being able to recover against detroit. They would have gone in their shell and lost after that overturned goal.

I don't know how you can measure them against each other though because of that same reason. Alot of what made this years team good is a product of them winning back then.

Strictly personnel wise it was probably 2010.

One need not be a rabid hockey fan to see that the 2010 team was much deeper than the current one.

Hey, I hear both answers to this. But does 2010 count as this decade or last decade. I know it's stupid, but for team of the decade talk, I'd rather in count for this decade.

I read that somewhere.

It was here. You wrote it.

Therefore it's your idea.

I believe your idea is correct. I believe you are correct. I believe in Crystal Light, 'cause I believe in me. Hi Ivan.

Patrick Sharp was better looking in 2010.

That's the answer Spaulding was looking for.

Isn't there a picture out there somewhere of her and Sharp?

This is how I see it as well.

No doubt 10 had the better talent, a much deeper team.

But 2013 played better as a team and beat better competition in the playoffs.

On the other hand, his declining appearance may make him more attainable in 2013.

I can see why Spaulding is conflicted.

I like the "better talent, better team" phrasing. No, the third line isn't as good this time around, but the commitment to ambitious penalty killing (a function of having consigned two failed second-liners in Kruger and Frolik to fourth-line duty to which they were overqualified) was terrific.

What Kirkwood said.

The 2010 team was amazing, The 2013 team was amazing. This will be a good (or annoying) bar debate for quite a while.

Cro & Emery might have been better in 2013 than Niemi was in 2010.
Defense was better in 2013.
Offensive may have been a little bit better in 2010.
I believe the 2013 team was deeper than 2010.
2013 was the better & more dominating team.

2010 could be pretty dominating at times and if they didn't have that whole Huet fiasco to deal with early in the season they probably win the President's Trophy. 2010 offense was better without question and the PP way infinitely times better. Everything else, advantage 2013.

yeah, even tho i'm 99% sure that overturned goal happened in a would-be-elimination game so my saying this is kind of superfluous nonsense: i think that was the moment where these hawks turned the corner and established themselves as a championship team. it woulda been so damn easy for them to be shell shocked and blow that game/series.... the other point that stood out to me was the game where they blew the lead with ~9 seconds left in regulation and then came back and won in overtime. again, idk if it was a would-be-elimination-game but had they gone on to lose that game/series, the term "9 seconds" would have been etched in the chicago sports fan's consciousness for decades. those two moments showed the kind of resilience that we often attribute with champions, and rightfully so.

otherwise, i don't have anything earth shattering to add to the consensus that 2010 was technically a better/more-talented/deeper team but the 2013 team was more "together" and "teamy" than them. if this were an all-things-equal matchup in NHL 2013 or something, i think that 2010 team has the higher OVR rating.... but this team showed more, dare i say it, TWTW than that 2010 team.... granted the 2010 team had that miracle finish against columbus or nashville or whoever, but this team had the two aforementioned games where they overcame late adversity (overturned GW goal late in regulation facing elimination, giving up the lead with ~9 seconds left in regulation) not to mention coming back against boston when they were up 2-1 and looking like worldbeaters, especially after they barely squeaked out that one win in a 3OT thriller where it felt like they were gonna lose for the ~50 minutes of extra hockey.

I think 2010 probably had more individual talent, but 2013 was a better team.

Crawford was better than Niemi and it's not even all that close.

Crawford saw 674 shots, stopped 628 for a .932% and 1.84GAA
Niemi saw 645, stopped 587 for a .910 and 2.63GAA

The 1970 Blackhawks would have kicked both their asses.

NO and NO. Defense was much better this year, not slightly. And goaltending was better this year as well.
