I cannot figure out why he has decided to make his living doing what is ostensibly a sports show when he misses the entire point of spectator sports. Maybe that's why he is so miserable.

Damn, I was really looking forward to watching my sons grow up, take them to their first ball games, maybe play some catch with them and share their joy in doing all of this. Now I realize that to be a good parent I have to send them to their rooms after any game so they can stare at the walls for four hours in solitary contemplation. Only then will they understand the true meaning of sports.

Exactly right Joe. Being a sports fan is about having fun & enjoying yourself & being with friends & family while going nuts cheering for your team. Its a nice bonus if your team wins a championship. Not winning doesn't mean that the games weren't enjoyable or that the season was a waste of time & worthless.
