You didn't switch the station. Stop lying to the great people of CSFMB.

I know, I didn't switch the show. I just turned it off.

So I guess I owe an apology to the Waddle and Silvy Cult for lying about my listenership today.

Sorry guys, your show kinda blows, as well.

I haven't listened to an entire hour of a B & B show in probably 6-8 months. Twitter and CBS articles are enough to tell what all the shows are about. And here of course. And Bernstein's general douchiness.

Dr. Ken - Hello children, until the emancipation order is finalized, I'm your father, Dr. Kenneth Noisewater.

Children - Yes. We've been briefed.

Dr. Ken - What are you up to?

Children - We're going out to celebrate the Blackhawks win.

Dr. Ken - NO! Don't do that! Listen, there something that Dan....

Children - Oh, for Christ's sake....

Dr. Ken - ...Bernstein wants me to talk with you about.

Children - Do we have to do this now?

Dr. Ken - I'm afraid so. You see, before you go out and celebrate with the masses, it's important for you to take some time and really think about this title.

Children - We've thought about it. I even saw some highlight of some game...or something....somewhere...I think it was the Hawks...it was on ice...or grass....

Dr. Ken - No, no, listen - you need to reflect on what this title means to you...as an individual....plural individuals....

Children - We just want to get drunk.

Dr. Ken - YOU'RE 12!

Children - We won't do any drugs.

Dr. Ken - That...what?...

Children - Not right away, anyway. Listen Dr. Kenneth Noisewater, we totally get what Dan Bernstein is trying to say.

Dr. Ken - You do?

Children - No, not really. Do you?

Dr. Ken - Not exactly. But he said it in that super-serious voice so it sounded important.

Children - Why don't we all just go do what we do. You get drunk and we'll steal something from the house and sell it for drugs.

Dr. Ken - You do that?

Children - No, of course not. That was a joke.

Dr. Ken - I don't even remember why I'm here. I should go.

Children - Sounds great. See you in court!

Dr. Ken and the Children is wondrous.

By the way, Boers is off all week.

Executive Producer Matt Abbatacola sits in with Bernstein tomorrow & Friday according to @Dan_Bernstein's Twitter, while the Trib's Steve "Wake & Bake" Rosenbloom sits in Thursday. However, Bernsy's listed hosting a solo show Friday due to an Indians/White Sox DH.

In 2010, the finals ended on a Wednesday. My husband was gone, the kids were 5 and 2 so they were in bed. The goal was kind of weird, and it was only the 2nd or so season I had watched hockey. I was alone, I enjoyed it.

Last night my husband was here, both kids were up. We were whooping and high fiving after that first goal. After the second, we were doing victory dances, grandparents were calling.

There was such a difference and last night was so great. I'd feel bad for Bernstein if he weren't a huge jerk. If my son turned to me after the game and told me he was really impressed with Boston's play (as someone here said he did), I think my heart would break for him a little. It's sad Bernstein is so proud of it.

TM, I know some people that he might consider part of his elite society. They were happy and with friends last night. He has to be socially awkward and he doesn't know he comes off that way. I get the feeling his elite class thinks he's a fucking weirdo and no fun. Maybe he is sore that he isn't invited to any of these parties.

Everyone is entitled to enjoy sports anyway they want. But I think for most of us, one of the defining aspects of our enjoyment is the communal feeling of pulling together. That's why I find it so surprising that so many who call themselves football fans have such little desire to see live games. You can have all your friends over on Sunday and it just isn't the same as standing among 60,000 screaming nutjobs just like you.

Before the Sox won in '05 one thing I really wanted before I died was to stand on 35th Street after they won with others just like me. I got to do that.

bernstein seems to feel as if emotions when it comes to sports are for fools. He's putting way too much thought into something that is ultimately trivial but important all at the same time. I guess that's his job. Or he thinks that's his job. But I don't think many people will ever take such a cold, joyless approach to something that is supposed to be entertaining them. No matter how much he preaches from 1 to 6 on WSCR or in the columns he posts on the difficult to navigate CBS website.

Zawaski had a Bernstein moment a while back when talking about how to watch hockey.

"Only an idiot watches the puck. Smart fans watch the action away from the puck."

 I'm not the only one.

But really, I'm not sure why bernstein is so against certain types of tribalism when he clearly endorses other types.

I've been to my fair share of Redskins games. And I can say, more times than not, it's easier to just stay at home or go to a local establishment to watch them. Guess I'm not a true football fan, under JORR's ridiculous theory.

So in your view, being a fan of something is defined by what's easier for you?

But that's what makes him a weirdo. Sports are a great way, especially for men, to form connections without having to be vunerable. They aren't important, but at the same time they are. The wins and losses don't matter, neither do championships when it comes down to it. They are a way for people to spend time together, and they are a fairly safe subject matter. Even when the team loses you may have gotten something out of partying, a tailgate, or just watching with somebody. Bonds and frienships are formed, he makes a good fucking living because of it.

Exactly. None of it really matters, but it does. That's why there's twenty color pages in today's paper on the Blackhawks when Iran and Russian are arming Assad and our own government is monitoring our message board use.*

I was a huge Bears fan, but admittedly I'm less of one now. There are tons of reasons I didn't go to games. The people I know that have tix are either diehards, sell tickets for profits, or use it as a social thing for tailgating or giving to clients.

Everyone has their reasons for what they do. Selling your Packer tickets may make you a shrewd businessman. It doesn't make you a Bears fan.

Being a fan of a team isn't exactly like a religion but there are some ritualistic similarities. All Muslims who are able are expected to make the Hajj. If you're crippled and can't get there, that's one thing. If you are destitute and can't afford the fare, that's another. But I don't think you can take three trips to Disney, buy a Range Rover and two big screens and claim you can't afford the pilgrimage. In that case, you aren't really a Muslim. As I said, it isn't exactly the same, being a fan is only like belonging to a religion to a certain degree. But I'm guessing as a Hawks fan, you're glad to see them in person when you can.

No. Because honestly, the experience of going to the games was never all that enjoyable for me. It had nothing to do with being a fan of the team.
