seeing "back2back" reminds me of this goofy bulls highlight package done up after the third title where they had some stupid niche song that was trying to be all R&B/early-90s-big-snare-hiphop/beat that had some guys crooning "BACK TO BACK TO BACK.... [tough-street-inflection] THE THREEPEAT!!!" (beat paylays into a highlight)

that's one of those indelible half-memories from my childhood that registers as maximum nostalgia from my lofty perch in the future. and the whole R&B/early-90s-big-snare-hiphop/beat fusion was as much of a period piece as zubaz sweats, those weird flourescent rainbow jackets with literally-edgy triangles and jagged edges, and of course.... flat tops/the-fade with those 3 lines shaved into the temple-area above the sideburns.

good times, good times.... if belinda carlisle was right and heaven is a place on earth, i reckon it's somewhere around ~94-96 with a young internet that was just about to blow up into a credit-card-required-pay-to-play shithole (the "telecommunications decency act" basically existed to establish the paradigm of "pay for porn" for reasons of "age verification") and there were still plenty of good dialup bbses and cmaster.exe worked like a charm and hanging out in the DiVE / EViD chatrooms on AOL where all of the hack coders (think standup comedy, not kevin mitnick) hung out and helped each other code their AOHell ripoffs (mine were aophun and the lamentably long-gone a031337, the latter of which featuring mcisendstring api calls as opposed to the usual "sendkeys" crap i did in aophun) and the massmails.... oh my fucking god the AOL massmails were the shit.... all it took was some dedicated pirate to upload the new apps/games to AOL and you could then forward all of the attachments around and line up a bunch of stuff to download overnight at your leisure..... and of course, once you realized that cmaster.exe visas lasted for ~2-4 days and mastercards lasted for ~30-60 (cuz technically, all i was doing was just getting myself free trials, its just that you needed a cc# to get one) and yeah.... the legend of xXx skApLuNk xXx lives on, no doubt... ha.

my bad, i just got tangented off to the purity of a nostalgic 90s thought and remembered just how much i miss the fucking 90s. i know it's passe/cliche to say that everything was better when you were a teenager/20-something relative to your perspective on life, but i shit you not..... everything WAS better/cooler/cutting-edge-ier in the 90s. comptuers had yet to get their industrial design aesthetics whitewash by apple, there was actual relative anonyminity online... no red light cameras.... smoking @ venues/bars... the alternative beat / industrial zone....and of course, dialup BBSes... my favorite thing.

just imagine if the CSFMB was a dialup BBS and only one person could be online at at a time (or 2-4 if biggie threw $$$ at the place, perhaps even charging people for full board access) and thus you had to exert quality control if you had a popular board cuz you wouldn't want CGS sitting there for ~2hrs at a time making 4 posts and picking her ass for the other ones.... and of course, sysops breaking into chat! lol)

ah well c'est la vie, i'm just bored b4 i pop the bus so forgive me as i bask in the glory that was being a proper child of the 90s completely 150% content with comptuer programming/gaming/communicating, especially when zoltar the brother from another planet was doing his thing on q101, aka the place to be cuz that was a day and age when radio actually mattered! RIP
