1 More year, put it on the deal right now and if he has an extension option, exercise it.

I think the guys has shown he busts his ass, he has improved the team and he deserves some reward.

What exactly has dale done to make the team better and to show that he is busting his ass??

The Cubs have a roster mostly full of 4A guys who are busting their ass to stay in the big leagues. They sure as hell don't need his motivation. I haven't seen anyone get better skill wise under his watch.

The only thing Dale is good at is drinking beer, looking like a hard ass, pissing on Ian Stewart and rocking his face off to 80's metal.

Pissing on Ian Stewart is a good thing!

While it doesnt matter, he actually got Soriano to play better,

The starting pitching has been great, which Bosio is his guy and he gets credit for that.

Fact is that it is 1 more year, not a huge deal, but the guy did walk into a terrible situation and has done well.

even if they dont keep the guy for the 4th year and they take a step backwards next year, the guy has taken a bullet for Theo and Co.

Yet, if things really start rolling next season, you dont want the lame duck manager on his last year either.

No, bad hire. I like bosio though. Soriano still blows.

About 3 or 4 years ago the broadcast guys kept selling the point that Soriano could carry the Cubs on his own when he gets hot. That was total propaganda. The only time he wakes up is when the pressure is off. It's been that way since day 1 as a Cub.

Svuem has shown me absolutely nothing justifying an extension. When the talent does start to arrive, either via the minors or via free agency (once the stadium deal is done), they need to get a real big league manager, not this stiff.

Dale runs Bosio, he runs Rob Deer.

Players like Dale.

Looking like a young Terry Francona. Whom Dale learned under.

Jesus am I sick of hearing how the players liked a coach.
The players liked Baker. The players liked lovie.
But they had to go. Their time was up.
Who fuckin cares who the players liked? Shit, they might play better for someone they don't like if he's a ball busting son of a bitch. Like... keenan?

I will agree, a better term is respect. I think they respect him.
I dont think they respected dusty, he was just a buddy.

Dale plays strictly by the book. It seems he has a valid explanation for every move he makes after games. He is very alert and aware of each players weakness and ability. I really can't fault him for too much except maybe the way he kept force feeding Marmol into game situations.

This team is .500 since may 5th and that includes the Marmol blow ups, so when someone wants to tell me they just stink, I often wonder what they are watching?

Not saying it is a great team. Plenty of holes to be filled, but just dont think they stink

If you take away those three big scoring plays, our defense played pretty well.

The team isnt terrible. A decent bullpen and they would look a lot more presentable.

Starting August 23rd in the Cubs 2010 season the Cubs went 24-13 with Mike Quade. Future HoF manager!!!

Anyways Swaimer has done a great job of getting the most of Castro and Rizzo. Can't wait until he gets his hands on Baez, Almora, Soler etc.

Soriano certainly carried the team in parts of 07-08 en route to a division title

You mean like that September when he hit .320 with 14 HRs en route to the Cubs winning the division by 2 games? Like that?

Too many people forget that we have witnessed probably the best stretch in Cubs baseball. Everything is negative because of the last few seasons. This was a team 5 years ago that people thought could win the World Series. Things certainly unraveled fast but to blame Soriano or say that Ramirez didnt play when it mattered is such revisionist history.

or June of that year where he went for .336 11 HR and 1.076 OPS while they gained like 8 games in the standings

I can't keep up, though, do home runs still count as good or are they bullshit stats now also?

Although, that was 2007 when I think they still counted.

Home Runs are now known as Outliers.
