The end begins tonight!

6 months after Deb capped LaGuerta she's a private dick. She works for Powder I hear, but he has hair now and doesn't blow up people who make gay passes at him. Oh, she's into coke too. Neat. Chicks loosen up on the booger sugar.

Oh and Yvonne Strahovski is back. Yay!

I just started watching season 1, kind of going back and forth with Six Feet under, I heard that seasons 1-2 are excellent but everything falls off steeply after season 2...

Any truth?

Yes.
Season 1 was outstanding. Outstanding. Did I say outstanding?
2 was decent. Search for the Bay Harbor butcher.
3 started to lose it. Miguel was not an interesting character. And a wedding.
4, Trinity and a baby. Babies always start to fuck shows.
5, a fellow wanna be killer and somewhat hot Lumen. But... not great.
6, Travis. Yeah, fruity ass travis. not fun.
7. more interesting. Debs interactions with Dex are outstanding, but the side characters are getting phased out and it's becoming more of a goofy ass sideshow.
8... we'll see.

Season 1 n 2 are great. After that is garbage. Lumen is horrible, not hot either. Colin hanks is probably the worst actor in Hollywood.

Dexter's fall hasn't been as precipitous as Six Feet Under's.

Well, I'm starting S3 of Six Feet Under in a bit...S1-2 have been outstanding but I did hear that 3 we uneven to bad and that it picks up in quality the rest of the, although not approaching season 1-2. Kind of like True Blood, now there is a show that went straight down the toilet.

It doesn't mean the show becomes bad. It just isn't as good.

Didn't happen to the Sopranos. Didn't happen to Seinfeld.

The Simpsons kind of went a reverse on that. The first couple of seasons were good, but it got much better from ~3-13.

Then it took an insane 180 straight to shitsville, particularly after season 14 or so.

It for sure happened to The Sopranos. I'm on Season 4 right now.

The scenes between Tony and Melfi are a total drag. They no longer have the character development angle they used to...Tony Soprano has already been fleshed out. They step away from the story each time and could be removed with no affect.

I care nothing for Janice's dating life.

And regarding Seinfeld...I never found it good. But that may be a generational thing.

edit: Damn...SomeGuy cares so much about my posts he has to respond twice.

I enjoyed the sopranos right up to the last minute of the last show.

I'm still enjoying it. And I still enjoy Dexter.

But the drop in quality is evident in both.

I get you.
Perhaps this final season will be a worthy finale and they'll pull out all the stops.

I would say starting with season 2. Seasons 2-9 were some of the best TV of all time, 10-13 were OK to good but, you're right, after 13 it declined at a frightening pace.

That's a hell of a run, though.

P.S. I would add that The Wire was awesome through all 5 (5 right?) seasons.

If you have Xbox360 and the Comcast Xfinity app you can watch those Showtime shows, of course the shows are "edited for explicit content" but everything is still there. Just no tits and FUCK. Kinda sucks but good in a pinch.

Not sure if you can get the app on Ps3

Yeah. It kinda sucks but you get the whole thing and you don't have to be a subscriber. I watched the first episode of Dexter the other day and it wasn't really noticeable, all the blood and gore and all that is very much there, just no swearing....which is odd. But again, it's free.

I don't think there was a drop off in Sopranos, Breaking Bad, or The Wire.

The last two seasons of Seinfeld sucked.

The wire was great start to finish, so was the shield. The sopranos had so many bad plots n episodes I lost interest. Not to mention the absolute worst ending in sitcom history.

Any show with the priest n Carmela sucks. Along with a psychatrist seeing her own shrink. Too many dream episodes. Vito in Maine or wherever he met Johnny cakes. So many shitty episodes I list count.

The end of the Sopranos was genius.

It ends the way you want it to end.

I want to understand this 312playa, but I cannot. It is more than just the occasional spelling gaffe. It is a complete inability to associate positively with a thought that is spewed in this forum. That is unfortunate, if of course he/she intends to be understood. If trolling is said characters attempt, rock on brother.

Two weeks into the final season, and I see no opinions (outside of the Sopranos being thought of as a sitcom.)

An interesting show, I think. Deb's off her wheels and is plugging people. Dexter at the beck & call of someone who set up 'Harry's Code'. Dex himself is fading into periods of rage. Haven't (yet) seen the season's main conflict, but at a guess,

1. Dexter has to deal with his mad-dog sister. Slice-n-dice.
2. The doctor isn't quite what she's presented as being.

Down the dial, a Dexter comic book has arrived. Written by the books' author. The books and the TV show diverged basically during the first season. For example, Rita is still with us, but her kids are sociopaths in training. The books have a humorous bent to them

(Oh. If you want a good end to a series, I advise "Blake's 7." Sci Fi show from the early 80s)
