For real fans, that problem usually doesn't arise until we're heading home.

Right. You'd have to be dumb to think someone that went to a game and hated it was a fan of said game and when they went home and watched the same event on TV and loved it, you'd have to agree they were a fan of a television program. Unless you're dumb.

I'm down with getting back to bashing bernstein, by the way, but threads evolve as they go. I don't see much point in complaining about the way they evolve. Just post your own thoughts.

It may have just been a bad experience at said game as we are talking about far more than just "The Game" of football, i.e. the action on the field. I've been to live football games, college and pro. I've had good times and bad but enjoyed "The Game" nonetheless.

As for getting back to bashing BernSTINE, I'm with you and I'm glad that we have your blessing to return to the original thread and its discussion.

Now JORR, what do you think about BernSTINE and his love of billionaires taking the hammer to the peasant classes?

Fuckin' BernSTINE.

True. Soldier SpaceShip doesn't lend itself to making it easy for fans to find mass transportation/cab service to get to the train or whatever. Real fans get smashed, keep drinking in the parking lots and then fire up the converted ambulance to hit the streets.

Yep. All those "real fans" who are hammered and singing "Bear Down" but couldn't name the starting tight end are die hard! They love football!

Went to Arlington Park yesterday and realized after two hours that I am NOT a horse racing fan. I definitely will not be watching on TV either.

I can't figure out why a couple third shift workers high-fiving a championship team whilst drinking macrobrews is distasteful but a billionaire crying over a goddamn baseball is so fucking heartwarming.

Drunk driving and rugged individualistic talk aside, this really should be a rolling thread.

anyone want to tell him that the parade and rally is as old history

Julius Caesar was not a meatball!

Maybe if the Hawks lead the Bruins in shackles down Washington and under Cloudgate with the players following behind with a busload of lobsters and chowder for all of us to adore the celebration will be acceptable.

You guys are more than welcome. It's just that I consider Darkside the CSFMB poster boy for freedom above safety. Maybe because he's armed and dangerous.

Perhaps if my motorcycle was a Harley and I dressed like a pirate while riding it, I would be considered for admission to Rugged Individualist Club.

The rally kinda sucked. Dan sucks more. I wish I could say his thesis of "celebrations mean nothing unless people give Jerry Reinsdorf things" is the most insipid and offensively shitty one he's ever put forth, but I'm half-numb to Dan's/the station's Reinsdorf shit by now, and there's a chance he's still had worse ones anyway.

Dan obviously resents McDonough for jedi-mind-tricking both the entire Chicago media and business community*, before they even won the first Cup, into loudly and proudly supporting the Blackhawks at every turn, but man, let's hear it for the Score's sales rep with the Bud Light account, because you gotta love a tableau like

"This is stupid. Rallies are stupid. White people are stupid. This is just a bunch of drunk sluts from Batavia, I hope they get knocked up and don't know who the dad is. It's too hot. Go inside. This is pointless. Nothing means anything without a championship and championships mean nothing without gifts for Jerry Reinsdorf. Blackhawks talk on the Score is brought to you by Bud Light, Here We Go!"

*except fearless independent thinker Dan Bernstein, who pledges his allegiance to no team well except three of the other four

Freedom above safety? Not exactly. Freedom comes first. You don't trade liberty for safety. Not an even trade. It never is an even trade.

I agree. But I don't think that's the American cultural zeitgeist, particularly post 9/11. It seems that a whole lot of folks value safety above all other virtues.

My friend, that, in my opinion, is sad, and is also what the terrorists thought our pussy asses would do.

You've accidentally dry-fingered your shift key down. You should oil up your keyboard as soon as possible.

Another example of what makes the Score such a silly operation, like a little boy wearing a suit. Do you think Score Web Editor Adam Hoge knows this rule, and if he does, do you think he has the juice to tell Duke English Major Dan Bernstein?

What the? See, another piece of the puzzle: Adam Hoge having any on-air responsibilities. Is he going to call in any reports from the practice field, or is he just going to call while he's trying to take a shit, like every other time we've heard his voice on the radio?

Like Chus said about Silvy, Adam Hoge has a voice for magazines. He also appears to have limited familiarity with the English language. But I like his effort, and he's neither entirely stupid nor a corporate sycophant. I am cautiously optimistic regarding his promotion to the Bears beat. Certainly he will immediately prevail against ZZ in providing useful information to Score listeners.

I get that it's Dan job, at least as he sees it, to have people "hate" him.....but how he can sit there and listen to Teary babble on and ultimately say nothing WHILE writing ridiculous articles like this? So strange. Why does he care so much about the parade/celebration? The. Only. Thing. That. Matters. Is. Winning. A. Championship.

They did it. He immediately tried to figure out how to "really" appreciate what's going on. A LOT of people chose to take the day off work and go down and celebrate "with" the team/other fans. He chose to sit behind his lapper and started crunching numbers to figure out how best to appreciate the greatness of this team. To each his/her own. While he's not busy trying to figure out how to chloroform Jim Belushi, he's busy thinking about how to best process what's happening. What a life.
