This is a tough one. I actually defended Milton Bradley on here right up to the end. I'll go with Leo Durocher for being the first manager to pinch hit for Ernie Banks. He hated Ernie because he was a New York guy who loved Willie Mays. He also skipped out on the club to go fishing in the middle of a pennant race.

He left the club to go with his girlfriend to visit her son at summer camp in Wisconsin, not go fishing.

Ooh, yeah, Phil Nevin was an ass. He was barely here, too, but in the time he was here I remember him being an ass. Same with Jacque Jones.

I think that was Frank Zappa.

Matt Karchner/Felix Heredia.

Both were completely fucking useless after being picked up at trade deadline in 98.

Sammy Sosa. Annoying as Hell. Always showing his ass, full of himself. Running out to right field like an idiot. Hey, save the energy for your kisses to the camera, guy. Douse yourself with that water till that camera catches you! :puker: :pukel:

I know he hated the press and struck out alot, but man could he hit some bombs! He was a favorite of mine, along with Buckner.

I'm sure you were just asking and not including Kong in this discussion.

From what I've heard, an absolute dick to the press.

But check out his stats as a Cub. His year in 79 was awesome. And the Lasorda rant alone justified Kingman as a Cub.

I watched that LA game where he hit 3 HR's. Awesome.

His batting stance was cool as hell.

Completely agree. I hated when they traded Lee Smith, he was one of my favorite players during that time. Everytime I saw that Schraldi dude it pissed me off. Wasn't there another guy in that deal as well? He pissed me off too.

Marmol was the best player on the team for a couple years. Add Tom ricketts to my list.

My first thought was Hawkins.

Lots of interesting comments in this thread. I never had an issue with Chip. He was just a goof ball.

I did not care for Sosa, but most hated ever? The guy had an amazing career for the Cubs and was very exciting to watch in his prime. I was shocked by the Derek Lee comments too. He seemed pretty quiet and just did his thing. Granted, I never listened to many interviews, but I read the beat writer articles everyday. I never pegged him as a jerk.

I figured the sox fans would come on here and hate Michael Barrett. I liked Barrett. He was ok for a while but his destruction of the Sosa boombox is one of the greatest stories that hasn't been completely told.

I think even Sox fans would've wanted to do that to AJ. Guy is a total tool.

Barrett did that? I thought it was Kerry Wood. What is the story on this?

Steve Ontiveros always kind of bugged me.

And Manny Trillo because I had 835 copies of his ugly mug from his 1977 Topps baseball card.

The 7 fingered dope is high on the list.

Jeff Blauser
Mel Rojas
Phil Nevin. Even in a short burst I couldn't stand the guy.

Flip side, one of the favorites was Terry Mulholland

Didn't like him. He struck out too much for me as a lead off hitter. Especially because they traded Dave Martinez for him.

Loved that guy. Him and Beck were the only arms on that 98 team that could get anybody out. Down the stretch of that season he would start a game, then come out of the pen a day or two later. Dude had a rubber arm.
