Yeah, but we don't need to spend more than five minutes talking about it.

Agree. 5 hours of this is a tough put. Hello Pandora!

Now they're wasting a lot of time on Samardzija's comments. I can't blame Samardzija for feeling anxious. He could get traded himself. It's not Samardzija's job to make long term decisions? NO SHIT.

That said, I can see his side, of course he's going to get emotional when one of his teammates and friends gets traded. It's human nature.

The Cubs have been horrific for four straight years. All these kids won't be making an impact for at least two more years. How fucking long should Cub fans be expected to remain placid?

Yeah it does suck to be him. He has to live through this rebuilding crap. That said, he's making a shit ton of money playing a kid's game. Kinda hard to feel sorry for him.

I don't think you have much of a choice unless you have a core of young talent. I don't blame the Cubs fans for being angry after not seeing a Cub WS in their lifetimes, but they have to rebuild with a young core then make the free agency splash after the Wrigley renovation and new TV network kicks in.

See how the Blackhawks got great? The Cubs are simply enacting the baseball version of that plan.

Jim Hendry was the most successful GM the Cubs have had in a long time.

I take back anything I said about Bernstein hating the Cubs. I don't know if I've ever heard him slurp over anyone like this. Not even David Foster Wallace.

Yeah, I had to chuckle at Dan spending all that hypothetical money. Right. I'm sure years of failing will make for a Cubs network that rakes in beacoup de dollars.

Also, is there anything more tired in the universe than Dan bitching about the use of "we?" Good god. It's such a fucking waste of everyone's time for him to fight that endlessly.

Yeah, he's choking on that cock pretty good. But if I was a Cubs fan, I would be happy to see them acting like a Big.Boy.Team.

Yep.

I wish my team was run like the Royals.

The difference is that the Royals are bad at scouting, drafting, and especially player development.

Theo and Jed have much better track records in that regard, in contrast to the Cubs's historical badness in scouting, drafting, and player development.

See Blackhawks replacing Dale Tallon with a more disciplined Stan Bowman.

I reiterate how pleasurable it will be when this management fails spectacularly, as it inevitably will. Just as the Cubs ask for patience, I must constantly remind myself to patiently await that day. Wherever I am, I'm going to make it a point to tune into whatever show Bernstein is on then.

It's the fact that he's not consistent. He chastises dumb callers when they use it, but he lets it slide with "smart" callers.

Yeah, the early returns in Chicago are great, too!

Nah. It'd be a stupid waste of time even if he sacked up and castigated his ass-licking-crew.

This was a five year project from day one. I don't think you are getting that... the Cubs were the lowest of the low in those departments. Signing a bunch of dumb free agents like Hendry was not a winning plan even in the era of unlimited salaries. Now with the luxury tax and compensatory picks, it is an especially bad strategy.

Quick question, what do you think the Cardinals are doing better? I'll tell you, it's scouting, drafting, and player development.

The problem with Dan's article is that he's so full of shit, there's a good chance he made most of that shit up.

Now here we go again, beyotching about how people will never get it.

They don't want to get it. That's the point. If people got it, their radio show would get really, really boring. Boers and Bernstine can't let the secret of their show get out. It's like Toto pulling down Oz's curtain and revealing the little, pathetic man behind it.

That's where I disagree. It's too early to judge simply because they were building from rubble. Now in 2-3 years, if the Cubs aren't improving, then yeah, it's panic time.
