Cool, thanks Ugie

Mohr has been really streaky lately so Im not listening to every single one.

He really needs to stop worrying about having females on and demographics and just do the show like he always did. Thats why it got so popular.

Exactly. The George Wallace episode was hilarious, but the other vegas episodes were boring. For the man-whore and female impressionist episodes, I listened about 15 minutes and then deleted.

Rare Carolla complaint.

When a big news story hits, dont wait til the News segment an hour into the podcast to address it. It just feels fake and dumb to listen to his daily complaints (which are admittedly hilarious) and then have him talking the tragedy later.

Im not saying be Walter Cronkite. Make jokes etc whatever. Just dont ignore it for an hour.

Other than that he's the best

I agree, it would have been better if he just didn't talk about it at all.

In his defense, the podcast is like what....an hour thirty....hour forty-five?

Maybe he didn't want to waste some really racist stuff that needed to be said first... :D

Right?

The stereotypes and complaints about minimum wage workers not putting in 110% to keep Adam happy will always be there.

Yesterday's show with Greg Fitzsimmons was remarkable and a perfect microcosm of the good and bad of Carolla's show

Starts out with some amusing complaining
Jokes with Fitz

Has some driver on that I had to FF through because who gives a fuck?

Then he was beyond ignorant with the Boston thing for about 5 minutes.

Then he brought it home with a hilarious bit about people and how they add things to their food.

Perfect

Really funny, occassionally ignorant, a little too much car stuff, but overall really good.

hmmm. That sounds like something bound to piss me off. Maybe I'll listen to Rome Lite AKA Travis Rodgers instead. Haven't listened in months. Fridays are pretty good, I recall...

You wouldnt be happy with how he uses the term, but at the end of the day he wants them dead regardless of creed, color, etc. so whatever.

If you have to FF past the news and just listen to the last 30. The food bit is worth it.

I havent had good Rome in a while

CAIR attacks Adam Carolla for ‘Islamaphobia’
12:16 AM 04/24/2013

The Council on American Islamic Relations, a Muslim advocacy organization known for its strong-armed tactics to stifle criticism, took issue Tuesday with comments comedian Adam Carolla made on “The O’Reilly Factor.”

In his appearance Monday, Carolla pointed out that some religions cause more problems than others and that Islamic terrorism is not something to be understood.

“You know, this whole thing of — and it has been going on throughout time, what did we do to offend them? We must have done something to offend these people. Why do they hate us so much? Why are they bullying us up? Perhaps, if we play nice with them, they will stop doing this,” Carolla said, describing the idea of self-doubting appeasement.

“They hate our culture,” he explained. “They hate our way of life. They hate the fact that our women’s boobies get bigger, our cars get longer, our swimming pools get deeper and we’re building skyscrapers and bridges. And Allah is supposed to take care of all this decadence but Allah never does. So they take it upon their hands to do it themselves. And we act like, ‘Well, if just make friends with them, then maybe, they’ll back off.’ They’re not going to back off as long as we’re enjoying our decadent life.”

Tuesday, CAIR National tweeted out The Daily Caller’s article highlighting Carolla’s appearance claiming that it represents Islamophobia.

Later in the day Tuesday, CAIR issued a press release claiming there has been a “wave of of inflammatory anti-Muslim rhetoric following the Boston Marathon bombings and the revelation that the suspects in the case are Muslim.” The group highlighted a series of television appearances and statements in which Islam was painted in a poor light — including statements made by columnist Ann Coulter, Democratic pundit Bob Beckel, New York Republican Rep. Peter King, Carolla and others

“We believe it is a positive sign that the vast majority of Americans have rejected the type of guilt by association advocated by extremist commentators seeking to exploit the tragic events in Boston to further their personal agendas,” CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said in a statement. “As a nation, we have learned to judge a person based on their actions, not on their faith or ethnicity.”

To me, it sounds like he's talking about Islamic terrorists

But i can see how they could take it as him inluding all muslims. His entire statement came off as very Us vs. Them.

A Muslim person can dislike American culture, but that doesn't mean he is going to hurt someone to make a point. I just chalk it up to ignorance...

Yeah, I can see how they took that.

But I agree with his point about not blaming ourselves. We dont need to look inward when stuff like this happens, imo.

Its not society's fault. Its just a crazy ass terrorist.

I know.

It's just that we can't be surprised when people feel they are retaliating. Are they wrong? Sure. But put yourself in their shoes. Someone shoots a missle at your family's home. What's your reaction? Understanding becasue my country brought this on themselves? Probably not. You're probably going to hate the people that invaded your country and killed innocent folks (while they were attempting to kill the bad guys). I know that's not the mentality of everyone who hates us. Some just hate us for no good reason. Even the guys who think they have a reason really don't. I'm just not surprised by it. And I am for peaceful solutions to such things. Killing just goes back and forth. Nobody is ever clear as to "who started it".

I havent read your post yet, Ivan

I want to take back what I said.

There are certainly things we do as a country that could be seen as provoking.

So I worded that wrong.

But, I dont think our way of life or the fact that we have more money than some nations or live a better life is an excuse or reasonable or understandable impetus for terror.

We drone strike your village, I get it

You dont like how we live, I dont get it

The "they don't like us because we're free" belief is American propaganda.

Not entirely.

It's overstated, but that sentiment exists.

I disagree.

Its not "because were free" its what we do with our freedom (everything to excess)

Mohr Stories has been on a great run lately starting with Brad Williams and continuing with Christopher Titus, Barry Katz (Undeniable), Bobby Lee, Bill Burr and today Steve Lillywhite

The U2 fans definitely want to check out the Lillywhite one.

Carolla has been awesome as usual lately

Barely listen to Maron at all anymore. Too whiny

Gave Bill Burr's podcast a shot. Not bad. Not much production. Just him yelling about Boston Sports in his garage but good.

Good discussion of formal vs informal rules/norms/codes in sports:

hockey (enforcers vs refs, helmets vs mctavish), mlb (retaliatory bean balls, etc) nfl and gear vs rugby and no gear:

Agree on all 3. Stopped with Maron like 2 years ago, when he had Dave Foley from Kids in the Hall on and didn't call Foley on his not supporting his kids and shit-talking their mother bs.

I like how on Alison Rosen's other podcast, the one with just the gang from the Adam Carolla staff (Porcelain Punisher, Gary Half-Tard, et al) they talk shit about Carolla in a way that makes you think he must be a giant douchebag to his employees.

Do they?

I tried the Alison ones and unless its someone I know and like its been Meh. But they changed the format now so Ill give the ones where they B.S. a shot

Adam is absolutely a giant douchebag

Dont do your best. Your best sucks, do MY best

He's a jackass on many levels. But hilarious.

I like when he exposes himself as a loser with his music choices and the fact he thinks people give a shit about his racing. Oh and riding a unicycle!
