Anyone else working today? This blows. Although my normally 55 min commute was shortened to 35 min since there was no traffic.

I am here. Doing some dirty work back in the warehouse this morning but after that should be really
quiet around here. Hoping to duck out a little bit early.

Metra is pretty dead. Not even any rooftop blowjobs going on.

Yea I am hoping by 1pm they tell everyone to go home.

Any firework related injuries to report from yesterday? I am hoping the idiot behind my house lost an entire hand.

I'd say 75% of my department is out today. Parking lot is pretty empty.

In our area here we normally have 30 people. Today only 5. Everyone took vacation days when they realized the company wasn't giving it off as a floater. I think most companies downtown aren't working (at least the ones with summer hour policies for Fridays).

you know, you figure that WSCR would double down and ensure that its hosts are available on mid-week veritable/holidays in order to capitalize on a marketplace with more available listeners due to the significant % of people not working. try to build the shows/brands by perhaps enticing new listeners who suddenly don't have to (pretend they're) work(ing) and thus have more disposable time?

naaahhhh we have to remember that these are people too, they're not HOSTBOT3000s (well, except for Laurence, a Cyberdyne Systems Model #036 800 Series now with more lifelike emotions!) and I mean, shit, can you imagine just how stunted Terry's kids might grow up without dad around..... erm wait, sorry, with Dad locked in the office doing a radio show over the ISDN lines?

Who knows, maybe there's a small chance DURR SPEAGOL shows up, cuz he's done some of these holidays/ish stuff before, seeing as A)i think he might see what i see about the potential for new listeners and B) he could use the vacation for more Tributothursdays

This.

We're open, though its going to be painfully slow today. Nobody in the construction industry is going to be doing much today. At least I should get home pretty quick since there was no traffic this AM. Usually Friday afternoon traffic sucks.

Debating on if I want to cut the lawn tonite or not.

Today is going to be rough. Too many cigars and too much alcohol and I couldn't sleep because people in my house wanted to go to camp.

I'm working from home, but judging by my Communicator, there are 5 people out of about 80 actually working today.

How's that Makers 46 taste this morning? :P

I worked yesterday, I am working today. Will take the light traffic while driving around. Wednesday afternoon was the real bitch getting around. If the Score doesn't get it done for me with the B-team, I'll switch over and sing along with XRT.

Same here. Half the place took a day off, but we are open. Absolutely no e-mail chatter and the phone has rung only once. All the places I passed on my way in today are closed. It's like working the day after Thanksgiving (non-retail).

I'm here b/c I didn't want to take the day off when nobody else is going to be here. I'll probably leave around 2.

It's me, Ankylosing Spondylitis.

Just kidding. I hope it's not that.

I came in for a few hours yesterday and we are working today.

I still have not rec'd any non-out of office emails from my customers. Very worthwhile for me to be in today...

If ever there were a poster who seems totally stressed out due to overwork, it's Ike South.

So far for me, today has been just as slow (if not slower) than the day after Thanksgiving.

you do realize this is part of what has made our country so great.

There is a lot of laziness around the world.

I have to disagree to an extent. With everybody working all the damn time, it's really a huge part of the overall breakdown of the family.

Oh I am not saying there have not been negative consequences. There have been. But people being lazy and not wanting to work leads to the breakdown of the family as well.

Its good and bad. Americans by far have the least amount of paid time off in the western working world.

Nope. What made our country great is rich guys who split their time between the Hamptons, Aspen and the French Riveria and pay lobbyists lots of money so they can destroy the groundwater and keep the minimum wage down. That and the forced enslavement of an entire race. Go America!
