What an amazing idiot this guy is!

We won't even revisit his ability to run the most popular NFL information source into the ground, after numerous attempts by others to throw their money at him.

Today, we will focus on his "Reliable" source whom "He trusts" who thinks the Ricketts family has bought the Cubs with the purpose of reselling them in a few years!

I am far from a Tom Ricketts fan, as I feel I am paying for his education on how to own a baseball team, but the guy has finally pointed everything in the right direction for the entire organization. Will they win a World Series? I don't know, but I see a team that will compete for years on end, due to a farm system and free agent spending. Maybe it is 2014, but either way, the plan is clear as day.

The one thing that makes NO sense in that plan is the Ricketts family spending all this time, money and energy to make a $500 mill profit. THEY ARE ALREADY BILLIONAIRES! If they didnt want to do this, they could have just sat back and enjoyed anything they ever wanted for generations to come.

But Hub thinks in a couple of Years, yes, thats about 2 years, once they have the stadium deal in place, new TV and Radio deals and better players starting careers, they will look to sell for close to $2 Bill!

Now, I dont doubt they want to make the team more valuable and I dont doubt it will be worth close to $2 Bill, but does anyone really think the owner who walks around the park shaking hands to almost every shlubb that walks up to him, who already has $1.5 bill and a finance company that is making more money that it ever has is doing this Cub thing to make another $500Bill?

Hub, for a guy who ripped on PFT for glamorizing stories just to get attention, you sure were reaching today for whjat I just had to say was an extended stupid thought. People say dumb things all the time, but those who actually create a dumb scenario like you did that makes no sense are the dumbest of all.

Please take a seat next to Mr Belushi, Piven and Cusack at the next game you attend, which I can only guess will be a playoff game?

Today, I had the unfortunate joy of listening to him give his top 5 favorite Who songs.
He gives us:

Baba O'Riley
Behind blue eyes
Teenage wasteland (oops)
My generation
Who are you

Then, after that stupidity, he has the balls to tell us that is we don't know what he's talking about we're not children of the 60's, 70's or 80's.

i just hope that the creepy ricketts clan has $$$ to spend when it's time to go get that in-his-prime manny ramirez or whatever big over the top pieces there are to get when the rest of this team is ready to kick up a few notches to contenderdom. part of the whole "it's gonna happen" / IN THEO WE TRUST plan has to be contingent on big daddy ricketts (cuz you know the buck doesn't stop with tom, let alone the 3-4 lesser rickettses) OKing the moves for elite free agents if/when they become available...

that is, unless the cult of theo has brainwashed cubdom enough to believe that THIS ISN'T HOW YOU DO IT and thus spending big $$$ on bigtime players is the wrong way to go since they're all in love with "doing it the right way" with boy wonder and his incomparable stats machine.

I have a good friend who reminds me a lot of Hub. Worked in his fathers business, basically given the business and ran it into the ground. Sounds a little like Hub, has the attitude that he knows what he is talking about (and I think he believes his own shit), but when it all comes down to it, the guy is pretty dumb.

None of those four songs, and Hub only listed four songs, would be in my top five.

Precisely why I call him a douche. First, he names the same song twice. Then he acts like "hey if you're not catchin what i'm slingin it's cause I'm more hip than you" which cheesed me off cause he is WRONG.

The only misstep Ricketts has made recently was his failure to use the suburbs as a threat to get his way.

I heard that as well. "Teenage Wasteland" is a lyric from The Who's "Baba O'Riley". Shame on Hub.

Hub was kind of funny today because he was grilling Zach about his NFL thoughts.

Oh my god shark I almost puked when I heard that.

For a guy who claims that he is a HUGE fan, he sure went with the hits as his favorites.

Years ago, I got into an argument with one my apprentices on a job, who claimed that the name of 'Baba O'Riley' was Teenage Wasteland. He also argued that 'All Along the Watchtower' was penned by James Marshall Hendrix, not Robert Allen Zimmerman.

Explain to me again why this is a bad theory? Taking an undervalued asset and and reorganizing everything with the hopes of getting out when you dhave an opportunity to double your money sounds like a very traditional business plan. Maybe Tommy and the rest of the siblings aren't in on it but I promise you their father considers it an option

The existence of a Hub ALS here is still kind of bizarre to me. I can see what makes most Score guys I dislike appealing to at least some, but I fail to see any of those qualities in Hub. At best he does a moderately professional sounding show in which he's wrong about most everything, especially when it comes to the sport that's supposed to be his expertise.

Yeah, he said Teenage Wasteland AND Baba. Then he went into 100% smarm voice and said "If you don't know what I'm talking about, you're not a child of the 60's, 70's OR 80's."
What a weiner.

Not even a question it was considered, but if they are just looking for a profit they could sell today for probably a $200 to $300 mill proft, and thats without putting in $500 mill more to make the profit become $500 mill.

So if the plan was to make a profit as the major focus, then selling today would be the best option. It allows someone else to realize some upside as well, making the sale much easier and quicker.

The point being it is not the primary reason for buying the Cubs nor is it a relatively short term goal.

I dont even think the old man goes for the deal without the exit strategy with a hefty profit on the table, but the fact is the old man will be dead before they sell this team.

Unless some alderman vote against all the Cubs improvements in the zoning meeting on July 29. Maybe an Alderman on the fart southside who has nothing to do with the issue but was swayed by "someone" to vote against it.

I think it would be the first non unanimous zoning vote in the last 50 years in the city.

Here's the flaw. Once he gets that new TV deal and completes the renovations, the Cubs are worth 2.5 billion. They'll always be worth at least that from that point on. Dodgers sold for 2 billion with there new TV deal in hand. Cubs are more valuable than the Dodgers. So why sell and have that money when you know that money is always there. I'm sure the family has enough accessible cash to live a great life style. Once the old man dies, they'll have more when they cash in their trust funds. Eventually, they'll be making 20 to 30 million in annual profits off the Cubs when they get the TV and renovations done. Tom's kids will probably sell it in 40 or 50 years. After Tom dies. Or maybe they'll share their father's love for the Cubs and keep it. Who knows.

I've heard enough from Tom through the years. You can tell. He wants the Cubs the rest of his life.

So Big Fan is right. Hub is stupid.

he never listened to the who. he just listened to the radio. he only mentioned the hits and said "teenage wasteland". of course the hits are great songs in some cases, but everybody knows the best from albums sometimes never make the airwaves.

yeah, he's really not worth listening to for opinions like that. he once said that ali was the greatest athlete of all time, too.

Indeed, Hub has an ALS on this site, not shocking though as Larry has a following as well.

Disturbing times.
